This latest unit looked solid, something to build off of going forward. I was especially impressed with Golson at LT.
My only gripe is the RB rotation. We have to create some carries for Martin, Miller, or Barrett now or they will be all we have down the stretch...

Piss on that lets run KJ and Pettway cripple against the shittiest teams on our schedule.

Who are our starters now on the line? Isn't Casey Dunn the center now?

I think it was
(Left to right)
Golson
Horton
Dunn
Smith
James

Interesting. So have we given up on Wanogho? How many snaps did he play tonight?
Posted on 9/30/17 at 10:55 pm to ThaiTiger24
He wore 98 and was our situational 6th OL. Not exactly sure on # of snaps, very few though.

Tega just isn't ready yet. He has a promising career once he gets more time to know what the game of football is

I think Barrett can be an explosive every down back, just gotta give him more chances.

Yeah, played 1 year of HS at AISA level. Came to AU as a DE with a badly broken leg. Developmentally he is like a true freshman.

Yea, I wish we’d give Barrett some actual carries, same with Miller. They both just look so much more explosive. KJ and Pettway definitely aren’t 100%.

Hopefully none. He has been bad all season and is responsible for two or three complete blind hits on Stidham that resulted in fumbles and even points for our opponents. I have said the entire time that he is a project and not suitable to be at the most important position on the offensive line. That change needed to be done
Fortunately, we have the depth to move some guys around right now to find a good balance. The pass blocking has been pretty good. Some of the run blocking has been decent but its just so hard to tell with our running backs being injured and not being about to pound the ball inside.
I know people absolutely hate the run up the middle but it is extremely important with out offensive scheme. We need that play to develop as we play some better defenses this season

I hope Tega can pull it together. It would be such a great story, but you are right. No way is experienced enough to hold such a key spot. Hopefully, he will continue to get mop up in the cupcake games and grow into the role.
I expect him to get some good play experience in the second half of the Ole Miss and LSU game.

Plus he has Hand as his coach, so he is fricked.

Speaking of Hand, wtf happened to his face? He had a huge bandage covering the whole side of his face and eye.

I was Dunn call out a shift in the blocking a couple of times, once on that long throw from our one foot line, when St blitzed and Stidham had time to rent a movie and eat a sandwich back there. Pretty impressive for a guy with a couple months practice.
Golson is definitely helping at tackle, we dont lose by putting Dunn at center, and definitely upgrade moving him to tackle.
I think our run game will continue to improve now that our passing game is clicking. As long as we let some healthy backs play.

I still think James is a bit of a liability but he's got more experience than Tega so I get why they would stick with him. He was worse against Clemson tho than Tega was...
Golson doesn't get the love he should. Dude has played everywhere for this team and is so damn consistent. He's not elite but we would be in a world of hurt without him.
I think Tega still has a bright future at OT but it's clear Saturday night's OL group has been AU's best to date. Sometimes guys just being comfortable with each other is more important that the raw talent up front

Hindsight being 20/20, I think leaving Tega at DE may have been a better choice. Tega being a freak athlete and having limited football experience, making him a pass rush specialist might have worked better. That was what his HS coach did and he was unblockable. LT is a tough, very technical position. He may have been better utilized as a 3rd down, go get the QB guy.

Didn't they put him in as a tight end (guessing as an extra blocker) for some plays?
Would be awesome if he caught a pass for a touchdown.
