Muschamp is going to make 3.8 Million next year, the thought of him leaving for a gig like UCF is laughable. O'Leary was making around 1.5 M and they have very little money for assistants. UCF could be a sleeping giant, but they have a serious void in booster support for such a massive university.

does he stay another year at Auburn with the chance that we are mediocre again next season (which is a good possibility), and that his head coaching candidate profile stock goes down, or does he take a job at a small school like UCF as head coach?
Yes, this makes so much sense because he's such a hot commodity now. His HC profile must be sky-high. And of course there won't be any small school jobs opening up next year, it's now or never for Boom.

Otherwise he's stuck watching his entire career spiraling down the toilet in the festering shithole that is Auburn Football. I bet he cries himself to sleep every night, on the mattress stuffed with the $3.5 million he's forced to receive from the school that is destroying his life.

Yeah and I bet Gus is crushed that he didn't stick around at Auburn until after 2012. Muschamp would be foolish to stay amidst all the uncertainty when he can take a head coaching job.

Where did you get 3.8 mill?

From what I remember, he's gettin paid 2 mill from us. And then there's 3 mill piled on top of that from Florida but that doesn't depend on him staying here.

I really doubt LSU is going to offer more than 2 mill

Just some number of my head Les Miles buyout, 15 mil, lets say they negotiate it to 8mil, Jimbos buyout at FSU probably around 3-4 mil, Jimbos new contract at LSU probably 5mil/yr. Muschamp has no buyout but to beat AU would probably have to be 2.5 mil/yr. That is a shitload of money. You would have to sell a Grand Canyon full of corndogs to touch the surface.

most of the coaching contracts are set up as guaranteed buyouts. If UF is paying him 3 million, it is usually contingent on him not landing another job. So if we are paying him 2 million then, typically, UF would flip the bill for the other 1 million or so left on his yearly buyout.

We were paying Chizik about 2 million a year but had he taken another job making 500k, we would owe him 1.5 million.

according to football scoop:
UCF: Brandon Helwig who does an excellent job covering UCF for UCFSports.com reports tonight that the four coaches Danny White intends to interview for the position are the same four we wrote about Tuesday: Dino Babers, Geoff Collins, Randy Shannon & Gene Chizik.

Hope Chiz gets it. IIRC, Tub hired him away from there.
