I would compare rosters first.

How were they more talented than 2003?
Easy. They added Brandon Jacobs as the 3rd running back. And Kenny Irons as the scout team RB while transfer redshirting.

The LB position is the only area we were stronger in 2013, IMO. We lost some studs at that position, but errywhere else we were a year older. We were healthier, and deeper, at RB in 2004. Jason Campbell was a year older also.

Karlos Dansby, Dontarius Thomas, and Reggie Torbor make 2003s talented >>>> 2004

At the LB position, which I stated above you. I would agree with that.......not as far as overall team talent though. I am through arguing about this now.

Well yeah... but we're talking three NFLers. and considering all the other guys from 2003 were on the 04 team and we didn't add any real talent bc Jetgate killed our 2004 signing class.... there's no real question 2003 > 2004 from a pure talent standpoint.

More concerned about next year than debating 03/04. I remember being really excited when 03 started.
So, how do you think we look next year as far as personnel? Do we have a replacement for guys we really missed this year like Prosch?
Any more word on Kozan?

He won't start next year unless he makes an Adrian Peterson type recovery in the next 9 months

No one should be safe on D except Jones Cass and Lawson. All other spots up for grabs.

I think that Pittway started working at H-back around the Iron Bowl and he could be amazing in the role. Otherwise we have Chandler Cox coming in as a true freshman to work as a fullback.
Coleman should be better next year with more time to recover. Not sure if it was the case or not but he looked like he was just giving out about 8 games in.
Running back should be fine despite losing another good one in CAP and a speed guy like Grant.
The biggest concerns for next year will be on the defensive line. We lose like 5 guys off the line and don't really have depth behind them. Our starting front should be as good as anyone's but no depth will be an issue.
Linebacker is another spot to watch. We have lots of small guys that will need to add weight and step up but another linebacker coach could turn around the group.
Our secondary will be really young but talented.
Our offensive line might be the deepest we have ever had if we find a solid replacement for Dismukes in Golson (seems to be the front runner as of now). We will be 7 or 8 deep that could play on 95% of the teams in the country.
Getting Duke back really helps with our receiver corp since no young guys have shown much in consistency so far.
All in all, this recruiting class is huge in who we end up with on defense. Cece Jefferson, Beckner, Coward and Holland could all be in the two deep out of the gate if we somehow land them or some of them.

9-3
Sept. 5: vs. Louisville (Atlanta)
Sept. 12: vs. Jacksonville State
Sept. 19: at LSU
Sept. 26: vs. Mississippi State
Oct. 3: San Jose State
Oct. 10: Open date
Oct. 15: at Kentucky
Oct. 24: at Arkansas
Oct. 31: vs. Ole Miss
Nov. 7: at Texas A&M
Nov 14: vs. Georgia
Nov. 21: vs. Idaho
Nov. 28: vs. Alabama
I think we could/should be 6-0 going into Arkansas with that being our first really good game. Arkansas finished strong this year and has been picking up steam.
Ole Miss loses a good bit this year so I think we will win that one at home.
@A&M could very well be a loss. Chavis/LSU seems to defend us well and their offense will still score points.
UGA always plays up to us and brings their best.
Alabama is always a toss up going in and next year shouldn't be any different.
I could see 9-3 and i will be fine with that if we manage to show a lot of improvement over this second half of a year.

name a year that is hasn't been a toss up outside of years that we are complete shite shows. It isn't delusion. This year we should have been blown away and we had a chance to win going into the half.

Looking over that schedule, I hope you are right about being undefeated for the Arky game. Have no clue what LSU will do to try and right the ship...
And I too think Alabama is a toss up.
