Tired of people saying that AU is too tough a job and coaches might not consider it because Saban and Smart too stronk. GTFO.

I don't think most coaches think that way, and if they do, they aren't very good coaches. If they're worried about their futures if AU doesn't work out, well they will be set for life with the money they'll make in 4-5 years.

I like Brent Venables. I think he'd be the first call on my list after Chip Kelly tells me no.

Brent V. would be my first choice if we go the coordinator route. Gary Patterson and then Chip Kelly?

wtf do people keep mentioning Venables? Just because someone is a good coordinator, doesn't mean they will be a good coach?

seems to me that there is a fellow by the name of Kirby over in Athens doing a hell of a job at the moment I don't remember him having any previous head coaching experience either

Just because a Head coach was successful somewhere else doesn't mean he'll be successful here.

What's your damn point? No coach we bring in will be a guarantee

Brent Venables is the call. To me, it's not whether they're a head coach or a coordinator, it's where they are learning their systems from. Kirby learned his systems from Saban. Gus learned his from Houston Nutt. Pat Dye learned is from Bear Bryant. There's a difference in how the coaches come up. I'm willing to bet on a coordinator with many years behind a successful system. Someone who's learned the recruiting ropes and the game planning from an elite coach. Dabo has proven himself to be an elite coach. Like him or not.

We need someone who's willing to start from the ground up and establish a culture first. I don't think Gus ever did that. Whereever the wind blows that's where Gus goes.

But all this is not until we get an administration that is confident enough to hire a coach and let that coach have control enough to being his system in.

If you want a former Clemson coordinator, Chad Morris is the pick. Defense is not the issue now. Gotta fix this shite-show of an offense!

Chad Morris took Gus Malzahn’s offense and evolved it into a monster through advancements in the passing and running game. He’s an incredible x’s and o’s coach on offense.

We can complain all we want, but we've made 2 national championships appearances. Only Auburn, Alabama and Clemson have made 2+ National championship appearances since 2009

This isn't a defense of Gus or Chizik, but not sure why people just ignore those seasons

It almost seems as though that we are in some weird predicament where the talent is on the roster, but we need a coaching staff replacement every 4 years to maximize results.

Thanks to Cam Newton and Nick Marshall. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but why on earth hasn't Gus gone after nothing QB's like them? Why even recruit a pocket passer? And please don't suggest something like " they're hard types to find", because if that's the case then Gus is running an early impossible offense to recruit for.

BTW, Auburn should've been in the national championship in 2004.
