Let’s all remember. Don’t laugh if a coach turns down the Bama job.

That’s what got us here in the first place.

The PTB, the power brokers, the guys in the back room, gave up a lot of their power to keep Nick. He held sway in negations in a way that no one else will be able. His worth was so great that they sold theirs away. Blank check, carte blanche, veto power. It'll be interesting to see how far the pendulum swings back the other direction and how far it returns.
Lord let them remember the sting of losing control more than the sting of simply losing.
And may it affect, effect, and infect the caliber they'll want and the caliber they receive. .. and receive... and receive.

I was delighted when I read the news of Saban's retirement but the loss of Caddy and Zac has flushed my joy down the crapper.

Word is...
Lanning turned them down.
Sark turned them down.
Deboer is getting a raise.
On top off all this Saban is getting his own office in BDS to "advise" the new coach. Who wants to be the head coach not just following a legend but with one looking over your shoulder. This is glorius!

It would be if our program was in a good place but it does not seem that way now.

Time to come full circle. He wouldn’t have to move far.

Gumps are also complaining that Saban retiring and their coaching search is distracting the press from covering us losing Caddy and Zac,

I get your point, but lets not forget:
Perk the Jerk (Ray Perkins)
Mike "Destiny" Price (Last Coach from Washington)
Mike Dubose (Showers in his office with secretary and he was NOT fired for that).
Mike Shula (Nice Guy, got a bad deal)
Gene Stallings (Got a Nattie, but also finally got Bama in signficant NCAA trouble)
Dennis Franphony (Went to TAMU)
ETA: Forgot Bill Curry (Last man picked in the NFL and had a 31-43-4 record at Georgia Tech. Including a 1-10year and only two winning seasons (6-4-1 and 9-2-1) in 7 years just before being hired by Bama
These are the coaches Bama hired before they hired Saban.

Bahr Jr. and the good ole boys are tired of hiding in the shadows. They want a yes man.

I can't imagine any coach with a normal brain would want to follow Nick and then have him looking over their shoulder. The next guy is going to be fried, baked, boiled, and spit out 100 different ways. A high-paid sacrificial lamb.

This is what happened to Mike Shula....

Bryant wanted Gene Stallings to replace him but they didn't listen. I expect the same type of thing to happen this time.

I guess I'm a terrible person, but I was kind if sad to see the old bastard retire lol. I'd like for us to have beaten him a time or 2 before

Maybe that is what he was scared of. It took a miracle play and a push-off by them and a bad defensive call by us for their win this year.
I just wish we could have sent him out as a loser like we did with tha ol dead drunk.

What dang fool wants to be in the middle of the upcoming power struggle. Lil Nicky stated he will maintain an office in the building and help his successor. The good old boys are going to be anxious to grab power back.
Looking at the 3 named contenders, Norvell and DeBoer would have to endure this crap. They gotta be nuts to buy into that shite-show. Frankly, I see the West coasters staying put after they think about this power struggle.
That leaves Rees.

I'm with you FTB. People underestimate the value in having a rival as good as Saban was. Like it or not, he made Auburn continue to push for excellence.

Is it okay to laugh when they all turn them down?

This guy loses three or more to Auburn, they’ll burn his house down.
