Shug Jordan had a copy of the first publication of the #Auburn Creed with him on #DDay

Don't know if many of you have already seen this but wanted to share for those who hadn't. The War Eagle Reader is a really cool site. They find the most random things.

Don't see why Auburn couldn't have a museum kinda like the one in North Alabama that honors Shug for his role in the school's football history but also for his incredible service during WWII. Maybe display his Bronze Medal (with family's permission). Eugene Sledge was also a heralded vet and Auburn alumini who's book, With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa was featured in Ken Burn's The War and HBO's The Pacific. He could be featured along with other Vets

Someone should make this happen

Meanwhile, Bear Bryant was defending his country by coaching football in North Carolina at Navy Pre-Flight.

From the link

I heard an old Auburn fan say one time—I think it was a Finebaum call—that if Bear Bryant had taken part in five major invasions in WWII including D-Day, that if he had earned a Purple Heart for being injured and a Bronze Star for valor storming the beaches at Normandy, there’d be statues of him in every town in the state.

He didn’t, of course…

Not everyone can be Shug Jordan.

I think it would be a good idea for the ROTC dept to add a museum for Auburn alumni who served above and beyond the call of duty
