Joey Gatewood switching to WR.

I wish he would have switched while at Auburn, the kid is a pure athlete.

Was holding out hope for Gus to go back to the offense that he actually had success with (which Joey would've been perfect for). But alas...Gus was too dumb and got fired, and Joey was equally dumb to transfer right back to Gus instead of an offense like Gus used to run with Cam and Marshall.

I was never the hype guy, but you can't look at him and think anything other then athlete.

I've always thought that he was more of a TE body type.

He's not even athletic enough to play WR.

I agree.

Am i missing something, or isn't his measurements reeking of TE?

Now, granted they all may have tried him there, and he lacks the catching skills or he just has bad hands, who knows.

But if he doesn't have those good enough skills then it certainly doesn't support the move to WR.

I feel bad for him, bc I am sure he must be the kind of kid that just listens to any coach he has had.

I also agree, why he went back to Gus, no clue.

Pretty sure he reshirted his first year at Auburn and was a redshirt freshman during Bo's freshman year. I also remember people saying he was actually younger than Bo Nix.

Does seem forever ago though.

When he first signed with Auburn, I said he needed to play TE and everyone ridiculed me for saying that

That's alright

I wanted him at RB. Just seemed it was his strongest skill as a QB.

Cam and Nick had the ability to throw an accurate pass when needed. Gatewood couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn if he were standing inside the barn.

Edited to correct.

No also to say, jville, that’s like judging a kid who shot three free throws all year and hit them all to say he’s a great free-throw shooter. He might be terrible. Just got lucky on those few he was able to shoot. If Gatewood was able to hit anything he would’ve been playing more.

not after the safety and running out of bounds instead of trying to get the first down...dude played scared and was clearly not ready.

Hugh Freeze should have been the first call when we tanked Gus.
