Here's a little something from the Decatur Daily:

Malzahn said he believes Johnson’s struggles were, at least partially, because of the coaching staff putting the junior quarterback into difficult play-call situations.

Johnson is Malzahn’s first traditional pocket passer at Auburn. Malzahn said it is his responsibility to give Johnson play calls that allow him to feel more comfortable with the offensive scheme.

With two interceptions Saturday, Johnson became the first Southeastern Conference quarterback since 2009 with five interceptions in the first two games of the season. Johnson said after the game sometimes the offense wasn’t able to get out of likely unsuccessful play calls when he looked over the way Jacksonville State was lined up defensively.

“Sometimes we would call plays to the wrong defense, and still I made a bad mistake by throwing it right to the guy,” Johnson said. “That’s what coach means by that, but it’s all good.”

I was going to say, the good news is JJ will return for his senior year and not leave for the NFL, but that may be bad news.

Call me a posibarner, but I think it clicked for JJ on those last two drives. He made good reads and did what needed to be done

Man I hope so. Gonna rewatch it tonight and see. His TD pass to Ray was beautiful. Threw it high and away from CB to let Ray make a play and he did. He also hit Roc running for that TD. He can make the throws.

The butthurt that will be if JJ comes out and throws for 300+ & 4 TDs Saturday would make the pain of JSU so worth it

I personally think JJ did not play that bad against Jack State. Louisville yeah, Jack State no.

I also think Gus deserves some blame. I think he bought into the hype too much and didn't take into account JJs lack of experience as the guy. He has got to make things easy for him. Establish some running game. Get JJ in a rythym. Set up some over the top plays better. I think Gus just thought he could treat JJ as a prostyle pocket passer out of the gates and that just doesn't work until a guys gets some level of comfort and experience.

I went to the liquor store Saturday afternoon and stocked up for either scenario. Either victory laps or walk of shame.

I told my wife Saturday that I believe Gus overlooked the fact that Johnson still has very little experience and may be trying to do too much with him.

I think you are are are saying the same thing

Show him Cover 4 and drop into Cover 2 zone, you'll get a pick off JJ every time...

Yep. Saying the same.

I think we try and run it up LSU's arse this Saturday. Whether that works or not, I dunno, but I think we give it a legit try to see what happens.

I honestly still think he'll be fine. Our running game and lack of Duke Williams in the O worries me more.

I seriously doubt Gus is gonna raise Dukes level of participation in this offense until he stops dogging it without the ball. Which he has been doing this season.

Spring 2014, JJ had one of the worst A-Day games I've ever seen.

A-Day means shite.

And now that he got knocked the frick out, dont look for hit to go all in on that slant anytime soon

I think it is safe to say that Louis and Ray are our wide outs this season.

It would help if we had a mean, nasty O Line who would kick people in the arse and give some running room to PB. We're missing Dismukes more than anybody gives credit for.

Will Avery Young be returning? I didn't like the OL lineup we used against JSU.

That would be shocking, IMO.

ETA:

If Gus goes to his back up, that means the other guy is a lost cause. He gives his starter every chance.

I don't see that happening unless JJ crumbles or gets hurt this week. By crumbles I mean more picks than completions.
