All the buyouts and extensions plus having to buyout whoever we hire.... Is this really feasible when we end up 6-6?

Money isn't an issue for auburn. Never has been and never will be. The school will do whatever it can to compete as long as saban isn't in Tuscaloosa.

Not really. Lowder is no longer around with bank buyout money to throw at the program for dumb shite like buying out coaches and people really should shut the frick up about it. I get it, people aren't happy about losing a couple games but we have lost to two solid football teams in close games.

When Saban retires, there will be a power vacuum in the SEC and the worst thing for us to be is an unstable program.

Warfarer,

I could almost agree about the 2 losses to top 15 teams.... But unfortunately I watched the game and the product on the field was a cluster. And has been for a couple seasons now

We're already an unstable program.

Keep the entire defensive staff, Horton, Kodi, and Fountain. Fire Gus, Rhett, and Hand

Does anybody have those numbers? I'm too lazy to look it up myself. I know Steele has at least a 2 year deal.

Also, if you were in on the sig bet with A&M, the sig pic is ready.

That's not reality. The new guy should have authority to hire whoever he wants, regardless of how we feel about the current staff.

Personally, I like the makeup of this staff... but something's gotta change on offense.

I think we'd owe guys like 8 million... considering Steele is a new hire, but wouldn't be cheap to buy him out either.

I'm just guessing at least 10 million to wipe the slate clean... And that's before you hire the new guys. Bottom line is it would be extremely expensive.

IMO, best case scenario is new president hires a new AD... who is then allowed to hire a new coach (if it in fact comes to that... I'm not ready to completely pull the plug on Gus)... but that's gonna take time.

yeah we are much better off with a firm hold on last in the west than to appear unstable. have you suffered multiple severe head traumas?

What has Gus done besides 2013 that merits he be retained? I see Auburn fans say this all time but I don't see anything he has done that is worth keeping him for other than 2013. He is going to be 25% against the big three and that is unacceptable.

ding ding ding.

We are not moving forward as a football program. That means we will be losing recruits...which means we will get even more shitty. Think about that for a few.

This is going to be a process. Gouge is leaving, when the new Pres is hired JJ should be replaced. The new AD will have to make a move on Gus. Time table in my mind is after next year. Not only from a money/ Administration change standpoint, but we can also say we gave him every chance to fix it. In order to attract better candidates.

Which is we move swiftly now to make the change so Gus' replacement will be in year 3 or 4 when Saban leaves.

I believe it would cost us 13.9 million to buyout the current staff.

Thank you to our savant Jay Jacobs once again. Might as well give a golden parachute to yet another coach that not one other fricking team wants.

Which is nothing. AU just raised ONE BILLION for academic programs from donors. You think 13 million will be an issue?

It doesn't matter how much money you're generating, essentially lighting a match to 14 million dollars probably isn't going to happen.

You also need to factor in the cost to hire a new staff... which is likely to be more expensive than the one you just fired.
