Nothing ground breaking here but will post anyway.

The QB race between JJ and Sean White was closer than we were all led to believe this spring.

JJ had accuracy issues this spring but it was his job to lose and he didn't lose it. TRANSLATION... Sean White had issues as well.

Muschamp met with the defense yesterday for several hours and went over every single play from the LSU game. It was not a pleasant meeting.

Muschanp will start 11 freshman before he plays guys that give minimal effort.

Cass has been productive. He'll be on the field somewhere maybe at Buck where Cam Toney played against LSU.

Not sure what's going on with Kris Frost. We need Justin Garrett healthy.

Offensive line has been getting undeserved criticism. They've been pretty good for the most part. Only 1 sack vs LSU was the lines fault.

Thanks for the update.

Given time, I think Muschamp turns this motley crew around.

How does it was JJ's job to lose translate into SW had issues as well? The guy had been touted as the heir apparent for several years now. No way Gus was gonna roll White out there opening day and take the criticism of why wasn't JJ starting. Baring injury or arrest, there was nothing White would have been able to do to supplant JJ as the day 1 starter.

I think that's the point of the insiders notes. We all thought what you said "no way JJ could be beat out" but in reality and unknowingly to us the race was closer than we thought.

This.

Gus has pumped JJ up as an all world QB the second our lord and savior Nick Marshall graduated. Kinda dug his own grave and hopefully he and the fan base have learned a valuable lesson.

We will not learn. I remember threads with AU folks saying Uzomah was the best TE in the league last spring.

lol on't be dumb. Trent Dilfer said SW is "artistic" accurate and he paints a picture with his balls.

I keep seeing people say that Gus pumped JJ up as a world beater but I don't remember that ever happening. Maybe I missed it but I remember a complaint about Gus using coach speak too much.

It was mostly the media and the fanbaase pumping JJ up from what I remember.

"10-year NFL starter" was thrown around at one point.

This. But what is a coach going to say about his starter? That he sucks?

I agree. Gus never really hyped up JJ..the media was the hype train. Everyone was going on his play against Arkansas last season. JJ also fit the physical mold, and had all the tools. His prob was mental, and i'm sure Gus had an idea that he may struggle. No one thought he would be that bad though.

That's what I'm saying. He can't come out and say that. That's why I don't really get bothered by coach speak. There's no incentive for them to say anything of substance in the preseason.

That's what I remember as well. I do remember hearing that Sean White wasn't as far behind as we might think though. I also remember hearing that White had issues too though.

I think that some of JJ's issues in real games may just have surfaced as much in practice. The pressure in practice is different than what's in a real game.

I have tempered expectations for White, but even if he's just serviceable it will be an improvement over JJ.
