Yes, it is a recruiting tool to offer 4 year scholarships. Everyone does it. These kids are wanted at Auburn (or any other school) for one reason and one reason only. To play a football and play it well. They earn free tuition to play, practice, work hard, and "produce" on the field. Kids can lose academic scholarships if they get lazy and make poor grades, so why can't football players lose theirs when they get lazy and prepare, practice, and play poorly. Their only motivation to perform is to maybe one day be a starter. How about using the "new scholarship renewal" to motivate these kids to work harder.

I know we have guys that do work their butts off, but I also think there are many who don't.

I'm just tired of having players on our team that seemingly feel they are entitled to be on our team while underperforming and doing bullcrap that gets them in trouble. They should work their asses off for that privilege. That goes for student athletes at any school really.

Just talking out my arse. Frustrated that we just aren't good right now.

I think that is the point. If they get lazy you pull the scholly and give it to someone else.
If you give out a 4-year scholly you are stuck with the lazy players

Coaching staff expectations play a big role in players attitudes. What kind of accountability is being placed on the kids from the top down. I believe this new coaching staff is pretty clear players will be working hard.

I keep reading where as the practices continue more and more players are buying in and becoming vocal towards others. Not saying what scholarship deal is better 1 or 4 just offering a different angle.

Not with ya on this one.. by doing so you're basically giving up any major player whose requirements is a 4 year scholarship (which is every recruit we try to sign). When we don't offer 4 year scholarships there are schools right down the road that will be happy to take the talent for 4 years and have the leadership to develop that talent as well.

You're frustrated that we aren't good after our 6th spring practice? Did you expect the frick-ups of the past staff to be erased after two weeks?

You can always get a kid off the team if you want to, 4 year scholly or not.

My frustration goes back much further than this spring.
