Auburn is not Alabama.

I'd love for Auburn to hire a good black head coach. I'd also love to run the spread or something similar. Lets be everything Alabama isn't on and off the field. It'd be easier to recruit that way IMO.

So let's be losers?

Why do we have to unlike them just because they are rivals..? Historically Auburn and Alabama are much alike when they've been successful. That would be a hard-nosed defensive football team that controlled the clock playing a smash mouth style.

I am all for upholding Auburn's traditions and refusing to have anything to do with UofA off the field. But on the field I admire the way Alabama is playing football right now.

It's a freaking machine.

Also...2012 > 2011 > 2010 (lulz) > 2009 when it comes to how their offense has looked.

I want a strong defensive football team first and foremost. I'm a huge fan of the spread option (the more weapons, the better), but I'd take a single back or pro style offense that grinds it out if that means winning.

How did you get that outa what I said?

You can be successful and different. In fact, I'd argue that it's critical to Auburn's success to be different than Bama. The spread would give us access to players Bama doesn't want or can't fit in their system. A black head coach certainly couldn't hurt in recruiting.

That was said jokingly.

In this conference, the best teams are more or less the same.. smash mouth w/ a power D.

Hasn't made much of a difference in the past.

I'd argue there are enough players to go around to fit in the same system for both programs.

True but I'd choose the best coach. If a black head coach happens to be the best, then awesome

Gus and Cam won us a natty. One could argue they followed the Urban Meyer model for success.

Let me know when a Cam Newton or a Tim Tebow walk through that door.

Florida won the Natty in 2006 with Chris Leak and a fricking awesome D...

See, thats whats so disappointing with our team to me...Florida had a great Sr and Fr class in 2006. When those Fr became Jrs in 2008, they won again.

We won in 2010 with a great Sr and Fr class...but look how our Jrs have NOT developed like they did at Florida...just dont get it

Yeah a freak accident. It was a beautiful accident though.

Urban Meyer
Probably the only coach in the country that can consistently win in a big time conference running a version of the spread.. and he had talent galore to do with what he pleased.
