Depends...are we talking Ole Miss Tubs, or Auburn Tubs (before the 08' season)?

At Ole Miss he was 25–20 overall and 12–20 in the SEC. Now does that mean he was a shitty HC, or was he coaching a shitty Ole Miss team? I dunno.

At Auburn he was 85–40 overall and 52–30 in the SEC. Not to mention, he is (somewhat) responsible for the longest streak we have over Alabama, 1 undefeated team/SEC Championship (04'), and 2 SEC Western titles (5 if you include split titles).

I believe some of the UL animosity arose from the fact that most coaches are required to give notice to their AD if they are in job talks with other schools. Pretty certain (can't find any old articles to confirm this though) that part of the secrecy of the meeting was to keep UL's AD in the dark.

1. He leaves us as an OC to take a head coaching job. Upgrade.

2. He leaves there to take an NFL head coaching job. Upgrade.

3. He leaves that to take a big SEC head coach job. Side move since he wasn't a good NFL head coach. He left in an awful way.

4. He is fired from Arkansas for reason outside of football. And I still think the only reason he was fired was due to hiring the girl into the AD.

Wow, talk about revisionist history.

Jetgate and shitty defense. Oh, and what is his record against Saban?

If that is a requirement for the job, who has a winning record against Saban? There is a hand full of guys we could potentially hire then?

that is honestly what I remember about him. Most of his moves were upgrades for him, whether he handled the move poorly or not. I am not trying to make him out to be a saint in any fashion, I was asking honestly why all the animosity towards the guy from us. I get why the Falcons and Falcon fans hate him, I get why Arkansas fans might not like him and I get why Louisville fans would hate him if he left in a bad fashion.

But from our standpoint, what has he done to Auburn to deserve the hatred?

He's hardly been in contact with Auburn. He coached here for 1 year. I don't understand why you think we have to wait for him to give us a reason to hate him.

I hate him for Auburn's job because of the fact that every program he has come into contact with as a head coach left with a sour taste in their mouth. I don't want it to happen to my school so I say no thank you.

Auburn is a better program than Arky. I have no doubt Petrino could win big at AU.

I want to win and don't give a crap if BP is the biggest douche in all the sports world.

Anyway, I don't think it will ever happen.

I've made my opinion on the matter clear. Not gonna argue why he's bad for Auburn.

This. The defense would fix itself depending on who he hired. A guy like BVG, with Petrino running the offense, would make us dangerous. I'm not worried about the whole "he's a scumbag" part, at least he wins. We have scumbags on our staff now and we're losing. Badly.

I'd be happy with one of Gary Patterson, Paul Rhoads, or Bobby Petrino.

Wanna give specific examples outside of recruiting rumor and innuendo? I don't believe any have been caught publicly having an affair or anything close to the sorts of Petrino.

The shadiness of Petrino is ten fold the supposed shadiness of Trooper. And you can't compare the two.. Troop is merely a position coach while Petrino would be the figurehead of Auburn University's biggest athletic program.

Yep, Saban is a scumbag, but he doesn't ge called out for it like Petrino does.

Petrino would get better players here (vs Arky), so we should have the talent on D and be able to get a pretty good DC.

We're going to get crushed by the media whoever we hire, so I don't get a frick about BP being a dick.

I doubt he can. It's all rumors and shite throwing.

I completely agree.

Petrino has left chaos behind him at every stop as a HC.
