Willie Taggart
I actuallyy like Taggart but Im sure the fan base would not be excited by him. However over the last two years, he has only lost two games: Alabama & LSU. Even for Western Kentucky, I think that's pretty good.
I also like his attitude and "swagger". Doesnt seem like he will put up with BS from anyone and his players carry that attitude on the field.

Other than the double post...i'm liking this new guy.

I found myself pulling for Willie Taggart and WKU while watching them play Troy. They are a disciplined football team that doesn't take shite from anyone. I loved it.

Not sure where the heck you are getting that he has only lost 2 games? He went 7-5 last year and is 5-2 this year. As well as 2-10 in 2010.

This is what we're missing with the current staff

You're right. I heard the stat on the radio several times and never verified the specifics
It is accurate to say that prior to this weekends loss to LaMonroe (yes, that LaMo) 12 games with the only losses being to Alabama & LSU, which is still impressive

Taggart is going to be Turner Gill 2.0, and I'm not just talking about his skin color.

Agree.
I've been cheerleading for Petrino, but I would also be happy with Fisher,Patterson or Strong. We need to go big or not go at all this time. We need a proven head coach and Strong is as low as I want to go down the list. JMO

One of the guys from Auburn undercover was on Finebaum today and mentioned these names plus Paul Rhoades as the most likely candidates. I would be happy with any one of them

i'm glad he's got Iowa state contending for middle of the road in the big 12, but i'd rather bring back tubs before rhoades.

Here is an idea for a sign that one of you Petrino supporters can take to the ballgame Saturday.

Pretty much . . . Why would we even consider hiring another Iowa State coach?

This is a pretty dumb statement.
I don't know why everyone jumped on the Turner Gill boat back in the day. The man coached at Buffalo for four years and had only one winning record and a 40% winning percentage all together at U Buffalo. He was a big deal just because he was black.
I am not saying Willie Taggart is going to be great but Taggart is going to have back to back winning records and more than likely a winning record overall after 3 seasons. Also, ULM and Bama are his only two losses this year and the ULM game was close. His team with less talent than Auburn put up basically the same fight we did.

How? I'm not saying they have identical records. I'm saying that he's going to have a good year this year (like Gill), and then will get rumored for a BCS-level job...and I think that's way too early for that. That's how he's similar to Gill.
If he could pull off, say, back-to-back 9 or 10 win seasons at WKU...that would get my attention.

So, you would be happy with Taggart being hired at Auburn?
Btw-I wrongly agreed he was the next Gill. Just don't think is ready for this job.

How's that record against Bama, LSU, or the Big 10?
Rig, I thought you got drafted. Did the meth heads cut you already?
