I don't think it's love, but more so because he is mechanically sound and has show flashes of being solid. Unfortunately the light didn't go on for the defense until after he got hurt. The White from a few weeks ago, plus a healthy Jovon and the defense playing well like it has, and we win today's game easily.

He can't hit a deep route. Hasn't all year. He is a west coast offense QB, playing in a power spread. It will not turn out well for him.

You saw Johnson throw downfield today?

Have you watched his highlight film? He did not come out of a west coast offense. In order to hit the deep throws, they have to be called. How many deep throws vs ole miss and arky did he hit the receiver in the hands and they dropped them? Forgetting all of that though have you ever seen JJ not throw a deep pass into coverage? I would seriously bet that of the 26 passes JJ attempted today atleast 20 were bubble screens. That's insanity and it is a recipe for getting your arse kicked. The guy has all the physical tools, the size, the arm, but he doesn't have the talent to play qb. He is incredibly awkward and stiff.

Well he threw one across the middle into double coverage that was 5 feet over the war for a pick

I'm not really even sure how to respond to you right now. He over threw a slant that wasn't into double coverage. He just airmailed over the WR's head. They called about the most conservative game that they could have with him. I don't get how you think that they let JJ throw it downfield today.

I'll post this here. I am really trying not to fricking hate Malzahn but he makes it difficult every time he opens his mouth these days.
So you played a guy that had no business playing today for the sake of "you decided to before the game" even though you didn't need to play him?
quote:
Malzahn: Made the call to play both quarterbacks before the game.
Sean still isn't 100 percent
quote:
Why passing game so ineffective? Gus Malzahn: "We just didn't get it done. I think that's the best way to put it."
quote:
Malzahn said the thought process behind playing QB Sean White in that 3rd quarter was "we planned on playing them both."

Those responses are almost firable.

Holy frick, Gus couldn't have answered those any worse.
From the outhouse to the penthouse. And then back to the outhouse.

We were never going to win the game today with JJ being our only healthy QB.
Yea we prob were if we had just kept running the ball.

The play calling is very different for the 2 qb's
This. Any dumbfrick bashing White just doesn't grasp the playcalling difference. If it's because Gus has to have a running able QB to function, that is all on Gus. If a hobbled QB can't just hand the ball off and pass and be successful, we need a new head coach.

Jevon had 12 carries for 95yds. how many carries in 2nd half? like 2 or 3
His hand got hurt on that one play, then Gus decided to not play Barber, Kerryon, or Roc.

White had no business being out there today. He was obviously in no condition to play. I'd prefer they just line Kerryon up at the wildcat and get it done.

Exactly, White shouldn't have been in the game today. We're lucky he didn't get hurt worse.

We banter around on this board about firing over play calling, etc, etc. IMO, playing an obviously hurt player in a game that literally means nothing is a fireable offense. Dead serious.

I agree with you to an extent. The base truth is that JJ and Ehite have the same skill set and SHOULD have the same game plan and play calling. Now White is just much better at executing the game plan than JJ is and that forces you to do different things.
But fundamentally both are predominately pocket passers with limited mobility.

I don't just have a problem with playing two QBS when one of them is hurt, I have a problem with playing two QBS when one of them is hurt and you're changing them IN THE MIDDLE OF A frickING SERIES.
Posted on 11/14/15 at 5:41 pm to BIG_Poppy
Disagree. Gus calls a lot more pass plays with White than with Jj.

If you KNEW you were going to play White why wait til the end of the 3rd. He should have gotten a series or two in the first half. He is obviously cripple, so you send him in when they are stacking the box. The D knows he is coming in to throw, once again Gus coached and play called this game exactly like all the others. He is to predicable and does not break his own tendencies.
