I feel like Gus is like Mike Martz. The old Rams OC, so good with X's and O's but over thinks himself into a stupor

Indeed, Auburn did run Wing-T run plays Saturday. Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables had a hunch they might and was so unfamiliar with the classic offense that he googled “How to stop the Wing-T” and watched a few videos online.

Can't disagree with anything in that article. Auburn isnt some division 3 nobody program. It's an upper echelon SEC program with a long and proud history. If Gus wants to run that kind of garbage, then he can take his arse to another program. We don't need fricking gimmicks to have a successful program. We need a coach who is going to pick a qb and run an offense that fits his strengths and allows us to have success. Its infuriating and embarrassing what a guy make 3 or 4 million a year put on the field last night.

White went 10-for-21 for 140 yards while throwing an interception at the Clemson 1-yard line. He had a quarterback rating of 19.

Johnson went 4-for-6 for 38 yards while throwing an interception. He had a quarterback rating of 0.7, which few knew was possible. He also ran for minus-18 yards.

Franklin had one throw, a loss of three — his QB rating was 2.0, which was somehow better than Johnson’s.

I actually laughed at this.

There is nothing in the article that is arguable and it might be one of the truest articles I have read about Malzahn.

The worst part of everything was that Johnson clearly was rattled after the first time he got hit, he couldn't do anything after that and should just leave the program. Finish his degree and thank everyone for the opportunity but he doesn't have it. Yet, despite this being clearly out there for all to see, he went in a few times after that.

So we are at the decision, pick White or pick Franklin and stay with him. Commit to one or the other and stop fricking around. Neither will get better by splitting time with the other and the offense will be awful while both are taking snaps considering both are polar opposites in terms of what they can do. Let one settle in and do the job and our offense will improve immediately. Hell, you can even start Woody (even though I don't like the idea) but at least stick with one guy.

Think this pretty much covers it. What an embarassing display of offensive last night. Don't think I'll ever forget how bad that was.

Sounds about right though I'm shocked even a high school team would think that play was a decent idea.

What's wrong with the Wing-T? My 4A high school ran it in the 90's when I was playing and we set the, at the time, All Class records for the state of Alabama for yards from scrimmage in a season and points scored in a season. Both records were eventually broken by Hoover when the spread became all the rage.

Gus 2013 was probably the most enjoyable I have ever seen in terms of football. Everyone knew we were running the ball, and couldn't stop it. We need that Gus again with this D.

I lived in St Louis when Martz was the Super Bowl winning OC. As well as when STL lost the Super Bowl to the stupid@ss Patriots with a little known QB by the name of Tom Brady...first of many for the Pats and the Rams never got their mojo back.

Its funny you made the comparison. I had been thinking the same thing. Super Bowl win, Martz is on top of the world. He takes over as HC after Vermeil left, so so year the 1st and then became "The Greatest Show on Turf," setting the world on fire with an offense the NFL just hadn't seen and ran it to a 14-2 record going into the Super Bowl.

Then something happened. Belechik figured out how to stop Mr Martz offense. And beat my Rams in the Super Bowl. But it was more than that. The NFL gameplaned the Pats defense against the Rams.

And they were NEVER the same. Neither was Martz. Martz lost his mojo, and it sure as heck seems like the same has happened to Gus. I'm just truly hoping the problem is Lashlee. I mean we DO pay him over half a million per year...

Sean White in a hurry up with 5 WRs and a shite ton of short quick passes. College run and shoot.

Or

JF3 running the veer. 95% option run plays with a couple of home run balls deep.

frick it. These are our QBs. It's what we got. Do what they are good at.
