UGA and Bama coaches were at AHS today BTW.

Kirby was meeting with Rashaan Evans, I don't think he was there for Foster.

Reading this thread just reinforces my belief that hiring an offensive guy like Gus was really fricking stupid, no matter how prolific his offenses are.. This class was heavy on defense, and we signaled to everybody this team would be built around an offensive philosophy, not defense. Not only that, but it's an offense than can leave a defense out on the field if it's not clicking. You can't win consistently in this league with below average D and an offensive philosophy that amounts to the last team with the ball wins..

Foster seems like a big baby that's full of himself. That's what we had last year. frick 'em. I'll take Cameron Toney over Foster any day given both of their attitudes.

Meh, the only thing that leaves a defense on the field is the defense. Get a stop on 3rd down and you get off the field. Can't get a stop on 3rd? Get used to being on the field. Chiz should have been more concerned about producing a defense capable of 3rd down stops instead of worrying about an offense that can protect the defense. If he had, he might still be here.

and what happens when the offense goes 3 and out in less than a minute because we are running plays at 100 mph? The defense goes right back on the field.

If the D consistently forces 3 and outs then there will be no problem. Why can't the philosophy be reversed? Our D causes so many 3 and outs, our O is to tired to move the ball down the field?

This is pretty much any offense ever. Gus's offenses are about a minute or so off the TOP we usually had under Tubs. If you seriously think one minute in TOP per game is the difference between our defense being tired or not I don't know what to tell you.

You might need to chill from the boards for a while, you are coming off as almost as much of a baby back bitch as Brannigan lately.

Or this board is getting too much auburn eagle in it to where anyone who isn't "all in" gets blasted with childish retorts.

There is a bit of that going on as well I'd agree, which is equally silly. But there is a difference between having legit concerns and discussions and still keeping an open mind like you have been doing, and just being a complete negative nancy and dogging everything because you don't like a head coaching hire like he's been doing.

Hell, I think there are many things that could go wrong with Gus as head coach myself, and thought he was a meh hire when I heard the news. But I have been very pleased with what he has done so far since being named head coach.

Besides, Blizz should be busy being a TD legend, not a doom and gloomer .

I hear ya and I too was very skeptical of this hire but after thinking about it, look at the majority of coaches in the SEC. We have alot more offensive minded head coaches now and you fight fire with fire. We were (Atleast I was) hoping for Bobby Petrino but got Gus instead, Bobby's defenses were lacking but the last two years at Arky they won atleast 10 games in the SEC. The changes that Gus has already made makes me think that we will be back and better than ever if everyone will just give him time. Mind you I love defense and defensive mind coaches but times are changing so might as well get on board IMO.

Btw I would be pissed to if I had Chiz in my user name
