Its probably more about the coaching than the talent.....

It's probably about having DW as QB and Mike Williams and Deon Cain eating up defenders down field too.

That and # of stars doesn't always indicate ability.

No one had an issue with Will Hastings getting passes thrown his way until he didn't catch them

If Hastings started getting open more then catching the ball, he'd be a hero

I have no real opinion on him or his playing time to be honest. I am sure there were reasons he was out there over some of the highly recruited guys. Reasons that we are not privy too.

I don't think Hastings is as bad as people think, he just didn't do anything to show people he was good either.

This. Hastings got more hate than Tony Stevens or Marcus Davis when they dropped 3x the passes.

The story of TSteve's drops this year was greatly exaggerated. He wasn't Larry Fitzgerald, but he was having a solid year pre injury

Agreed.

Hasting suck. can't run routes or get open. It is very racist of you to compare him to Renfro just because they are both of the honkie.

Sometime during the Arkansas game. He missed both Ole Miss/Vandy games LINK and never seemed to get back up to speed after that

He was averaging ~70ypg before Arkansas

Dat walk on status bro. That is what was getting pasted on every thread all year. That he was a walk on. Not that he was a honkie...

Hastings could have been effective weapon if used for the right set of plays with the right supporting personnel packages on the field. he is a very dynamic player in space. wasnt put in too many situations with a possibility to succeed. a good coach will beat your arse with a team full of Will Hastings.

Did you even watch the game or was your old arse asleep? You can't possibly be this dumb

As an athlete, Hastings can't lick the bottom of Renfrow's cleat. Literally the only reason Renfrow didn't get recruited is because he played QB in HS in a wishbone offense so nobody knew what he could do.

Renfrow will be drafted. Hastings is still just a backup kicker who cant even kick anything except onside kicks and was used as a WR in a handful of gimmick plays

Once teams realized we would actually throw to Hastings, he got treated like a rag doll.
Renfrow ripped the best defense in CFB a new one 2 years in a row when everybody knew he was getting the ball and now he probably has the most TDs in the short history of the playoffs

Hastings couldn't play WR full time at Samford and you're trying to compare him to a guy that's the next Wes Welker and trying to say the only difference is coaching?

Im not even trying to be mean, but this makes the all-time list of dumbest things I've ever read on a sports message board. You're a joke of a football fan

You sure about that?

Auburn has had some pretty good athletes and yet somehow Hastings

And that really helped him not to get treated like a child among men as soon as teams realized he could catch. I'm sure that was just coaching and scheming tho, amirite?
Hastings was totally breaking ankles and making cuts to get past all-SEC DBs all the time like Renfrow was last night amirite?

I'm a short white guy, I should walk on at Clemson and be a hero since it's only just coaching and scheming. I have as much chance to get on the field at Clemson as Hastings does

That's great about Hastings shuttle time, really. He's a shoe in to start when we compete against Bama in the presidential fitness test next year. Because the only difference between picking up an eraser off the ground and setting it down 5 yards away in street clothes with nobody trying to tackle you and Renfrow's 80 catches 1000 yards and 11 TDs as a freshman and sophomore is coaching and scheming

Jesus. Odd thing to get so emo about.

Honestly if we had consistently decent QB play Hastings would be productive. He has some quickness and is not a bad route runner. Those drill numbers indicate that he does have some athletic ability, but he needs to be put in a better position to succeed.

He has size limitations but he could be effective if we had any semblance of a short/intermediate passing game. Unfortunately our coaches insist on vertical routes that don't utilize his ability. Every player has strengths/limitations but you can't just draw up fly routes and corner fades for a 5'9 slot receiver and expect good things to happen.

Thanks for the link. Interestingly enough Stevens and Sean had similar seasons. Hated by some of the fan base while having a statistically good season but injuries kept them from further proving themselves.
