Whoa unto AU men's sports as they continue to wander for 40 years and languish in the wilderness of mediocrity !!!!!

Should have been sent packing in 2008. Still not sure how he survived 2012.

Every major sport sucked, then we horribly mismanaged the Tuberville situation, forcing him out after he just signed an extension in 2007 in a panic move. Then we hired a guy who was 5-19 to replace him.

And then won a championship with that 5-29 coach. I will take that trade for a 9 win coach and that is all Tubs would ever be. He is a skinny Bert at a better school while its in state rival was down.

I understand that the lows have been low but for God's sake, we've been to the national championship twice in the last five years. We were seconds away from winning both of them. We hired probably the best basketball coach Auburn would ever have a chance at. I agree that the contracts have been horrible but there are so many schools who would kill for what Auburn has had since JJ has been here.

Going to the national championship, especially twice, is definitely great for our program. But great programs sustain success, and certainly do not plummet to the lows that we do after success. We're well on our way to our third losing season in the past seven years. That's not acceptable. And to judge an AD, you have to look at every program. Basketball and baseball have consistently been mediocre at best, with basketball reaching new lows under JJ's leadership. Swimming has always been good, but JJ ran off David Marsh, who protested JJ's promotion in 2004. Softball is getting to be great, but that is the one silver lining.

You know he didn't hire a single one of those major sports coaches, right?

I don't like JJ but I don't see how you can blame 2008 on him.

Cuz there's no more Bob Lowder. Now we're stuck with spineless BoT members.

I think he's a good guy, but based on everything i've read, I also think he's in an impossible situation where he has to serve a bunch of donor types to keep his job. The crappy part is that he does their bidding and takes the heat when things go south. If he ever does leave/get run off, the only right decision would be to hire someone truly from the outside who won't just be a mouthpiece and a puppet.

Specific assistants complained after the season that certain athletic department officials had way too much say so and presence in practice and with regards to the way the team was coached. There was a lot of micromanagement and it was obvious Tuberville gave up.

Being a college AD has to suck. Feels almost like politicians. Your real money & support comes from the general fan base, but the special interest/large donors give just enough that ignoring them would be a bad idea and would get you fired.

It would be nice for us to stop pretending it isn't a business and have an AD turn it into a commercial juggernaut.

I am beginning to think our fans like to bitch as much as possible just so they think they sound like they know what would be best for the school.

It had been half a century since we won a NC and 2 years since we had been playing for one. Stop cutting and burning your teen arms and legs and chill the frick out you pussies.

Im pretty sure the JJ haters just need somebody to point their fingers at because they can't go through life without pointing fingers. No matter the good things JJ does, the contempt that the JJ haters hold toward him will always continue to grow.

I just don't like him representing Auburn athletics. He sounds like a bumbling idiot. We are southern and have accents, we sounds stupid enough already outside the south

Damn, you must have lived for two years broken out in hives when Nick Marshall was our starting QB.

But I'm sure you speak the perfect Queens English.
