I don't care if Newton was playing last night, you have to protect him. Prince tega got whipped for the second game in a row. Why didn't they keep pettway in the back field to get him help? There has to be a shift on this OLine.

I think we can beat everyone but LSU, UGA and Bama. Once again, 8-5 and a disappointing season. It WILL not get better at Gus at the helm. We need a change and all of you people preaching consistentcy can stfu.

I don't think there is a poster left here that is still defending Malzahn.

You cant protect him if he keeps bailing out of the pocket. Stan even mentioned last night on the broadcast that he has developed a bad habit of quickly glancing back over his shoulder to see where the rush is. He needs to step up and let the rush flow around him and stop trying to out run it to the sidelines.

He is still a project and will be for a while. We need to move the Oline around and put in some confidence plays for JS. We will be fine. Its just adjustments. We lost to the returning champs. It was not pretty but there is a lot of build on

Everyone just calm the frick down and stop reading the internet slamming. Its obvious we were not ready for that defense at this point. Not sure what team in the SEC would have been

I'll agree with you on your initial points, no quarterback was going to succeed in that game last night. We HAVE to install some shorter safety routes to get the ball out faster. I've heard that the receivers weren't creating space but it is tough to do when you are playing an athletic defense and run nothing but fly routes. We need some 5-10 yard routes to create some shorter situations.

This one is hung on the coaches. I'm not sure what was going on but this still looks an awful lot like the same shite passing game (only more throws) that we had last year and the year before. CL was supposed to come in and modify the passing game, not run the same exact offense that stopped working.

My biggest question is this: we were down a touchdown with nearly a half left to play and we seemingly abandoned the run game, our bread and butter. We had plenty of time to put together drives and yet we continued trying to go over the top instead of assembling drives.

That and play calling was atrocious. It wasn't like WRs were open on the replays, the routes they were running were not quick enough to match the pressure.

This. Guys were not getting open and the routes were overall way too deep...

They actually did early and Pettway made a couple of good blocks.

Later in the game, however, Pettway gave up and chose not to do a gotdamn thing.

itd be dif if tega got a few holding calls because he was doing everything he could to stop getting his arse beat. kid wasn't even trying.

I guess that goes for the entire Oline. gave up 11 sacks and the line didnt get a single holding call. tells me they weren't even trying to get away with anything or pushing the issue a bit.

Why weren't we covering up Tega with a tight end to give him help?

They started blitzing two. He can only pickup one.

True.

Except at that point he wasn't even picking up one.

It's always game 5 before Gus figures out what he has, it was that way with Cam and NM also.

Three years in a row we have had these same issues... three different QBs. At some point, the person teaching QBs needs to take blame.

The problem with firing Gus is who do we get and will they really be an upgrade? Being in the same state/division with bama sucks because you know there is no HC (ever in the history of the game) who can compete with the GOAT HC that they have. So no matter who we hire, we will still never have a chance against the bams. So, in a sense, what's the point? Sure, we can get a better HC, but will we get a HC that can win the SEC with Saban there? Doubtful.

Plenty of people would come. There are only so many SEC schools. Ole Miss won't have a problem finding a good coach.

Chris Petersen would be worth a shot. Understands defense, could keep Steele and would challenge everyone with the kind of recruits we get on offense.
