Do you feel it's any coincidence that DC has become a 'father figure' for Jameis and Duke and both of these guys have been drama queens off the field?

Does this situation where a player is really close to coach cause them to feel they can get away with certain actions?

Craig wasn't around Jameis when his off-field drama occurred.

Q: Will Duke play in every game this season as long as he's healthy?

Craig: “As long as he does what he's supposed to do, if he's doing things the way we want him to do it, he will. That's not only him. That's anybody. And that's the law. If you talk to any other receiver, they probably did 100 up-downs yesterday. It was so bad, Melvin (Ray) couldn't even finish practice. He was cramping up, full-body cramping. If you're supposed to be six yards from the tackle, you better be six yards. If you're supposed to be 10 yards on the route, you better be 10. And if you miss an assignment, you're getting it. You're doing up-downs. So that's all of them. That ain't just him.

Don't know about anyone else, but I like the sound of this mentality.

Q: If this happened with Duke last year when he was new to the team and not a senior, would there be more leniency in regard to that standard?

Craig: “Well, last year we wasn’t 8-5 the year before. That’s the difference.”

It was very, very well known that Duke was a headcase before coming to AU. JGT wrote pretty long piece about how Duke is an "angry" guy and has a hard time channeling his anger into positive pursuits

Cam Newton seemed/seems extremely close with Gus Malzahn/Kristi. Didn't seem like Chocolate Gatsby took advantage of the GusBus

Well that was a refreshing read and I am glad we have a coaching staff that demands the best.It also is a look into the previous staff and their laziness.

DCraig better get a HC job/OC soon. That is a legit interview. He somewhow seemingly wove coach speak + being real into the same interview.

I hear what you're saying, but I hope he stays at Auburn for a long time.

I just wonder how successful he'd be as a HC since he's so much of a player's coach. As close as he seems to get to his players, I don't know how well that would translate to a head coaching gig.

Really like that interview. Made me feel slightly better about where Duke's head is at.

Craig isn't taking any shite this year. The part about Sammie Coates was interesting.

quote:

“Sammie Coates, until he learned how to practice the way we wanted him to practice, that's when he took off. Sammie Coates texts me and calls me to this day. But when I got here, Sammie was one of the laziest players I've ever been around. And y'all know that. So where was the difference (between 2013 and last season)? Being demanding.

I like me some DC -- pulled Tater Tots arse out of the fire when he played (kudos to Jimbo). He is and was a badass and understands these stud athletes. Hope he stays a while
