Not sure why he wouldn't just take NFL money.

So, I randomly met the uncle of one of our freshmen at the game last weekend because he was sitting behind me. The group around us was chatting about random stuff and it was brought up what would Carlson be doing next year. He didn't know for sure, but he said that he really wants to play with his brother. They've never been able to do that, and they have an opportunity to next year. Definitely not the only reason, but he said it was a big factor.

I would imagine for a few of reasons:

1. There is not guarantee of NFL money in his future. Likely? I'd agree with that. Guaranteed? Do you even NFL bro?

2. I don't think the Carlson family is hurting for money.

3. Playing with this brother and giving his brother a red-shirt season to get used to college ball like he had.

4. Beating Ol' Grumpy GrandPappy.

Now he needs to go coach up Lawson and Montravious Adams...

Kickers from college to the NFL are not exactly a sure thing. Carlson might have a likely future. I doubt his family needs the money. Reading up on him and his family, they are likely pretty stable economically. Another plus is that his younger brother is committed and will likely redshirt or even possibly punt. Carlson coming back helps make sure special teams will be a strength.

Lawson has the choice to come back if he wants (he won't).

Adams eligibility is all up after this year (he never red-shirted).

Thank God. They said he was openly considering. I was hoping when we heard Lawson participated in Senior Day but I didn't hear anything about Carlson that he was coming back.

I'd love to have Lawson and Adams back but we are good at Dline.

I think Jeff Holland will fill Lawson's roll nicely next season. He's not as good, but he's still a solid pass rusher. Lot of times he doesn't get home just because LAWSON or Monty get there a split second sooner.
