I have no problem with that.

I think he's just a hands off HC.

Play calling in overtime was atrocious. HE may be a genius, but there are a few bats in his belfry. We have a manchild for a receiver, and we throw a tunnel screen instead of throwing it once down the field? Come on. That last rinky dink play looked like a junior high play. He needs to look at himself and his very predictable offense.

Maybe it's a little odd, but overall it doesn't bother me. He let's the DC control his side of the ball. It's funny because usually the complaints are the HC has too much control and now I see some because he doesn't have enough...

Matt Millen, who I don't think is a very good analyst, knows his football. He said, from watching tape, we were very predictable in down and distance sets. That was concerning.

I'm all for not meddling with something that you're not the best at coaching, like Chizik did. Discipline on defense didn't just show up today, it's been a problem all year. I just think it's a little odd that Muschamp has to come in and "fix" it.

as much of a count that guy was, I did agree with him regarding our tendencies. very obvious, but it shouldn't matter really. it didnt last year.

I think, primarily, gus tried to the same shite without Prosch and we got our shite slapped

Yep. Gus leaves defensive discipline up to the defensive coaches. They're the ones spending time with the players everyday at practice, teaching command of the sidelines. He knows his limits. He also knows Muschamp isn't going to allow that kind of shite to go on.

You don't pay a defensive coordinator as much as Auburn does to let the defensive coordinator take a back seat on defensive fouls. Period.
This is the way I see it

Why is it odd? He got rid of the DC that he trusted to instill discipline in the defense because he failed apparently.

I found the comment odd because there was so much more wrong with the game and defense than discipline.

It didn't matter last year because we had the most dominant OL in the nation. But teams caught on to the read starting with FSU. In that game and many this season, the D would blitz an extra DB off the edge to take away the RB and the QB. He needs to change it up sometimes and not just rely on the OL to dominate

That was a direct response to a question about discipline on defense.

I didn't expect the defense to somehow decide to do a 180 and show up today. They did hold them to 3 in overtime and Gus went full retard with his play calls, but that's beside the point.

I'd just like him to take a little ownership of something like that. It's not like it was a problem that decided to show up today. It's been there all year.

I listened to the post game comments and didn't really hear him say it like that. Maybe afterwards to a beat reporter but Not in the post game conference

On paper, it makes sense to have the HC take that responsibility. But Gus isn't that HC. He never has been and may never be. As a fan base, we've gotta get really comfortable with the fact that we don't have a Saban, Jimbo, or Meyer. Gus hasn't been a career head coach. He's still an offensive coordinator and it's showing still.

His first step probably should be handing playcalling responsibility to Rhett Lashlee

Our O scored a lot of points this year including today. The play calling in overtime sucked but Gus has earned a few brain farts. I have zero problems with him delegating responsibility over all aspects of the D.

No. And you guys are being extra sensitive today about Gus.

The dude took us from backwater to relevant in less than 12 months. He's allowed a few flubs and overall he is very right.
