Cole Cubelic @colecubelic
Had SEC asst tell me "Duke Williams is the best receiver this league has seen in a long time. I'd still take the kid at Bama but it's true"

Cole Cubelic @colecubelic
My opinion has changed......QT @slackernneed: @colecubelic kid at Bama is headed to NFL, but is Duke?

Cole Cubelic @colecubelic
No, I thought that yesterday. I do not today. QT @wdenson02: @colecubelic that Duuuukkkkee is coming back??

Cole Cubelic @colecubelic
Yes. QT @micahreynolds: @colecubelic @slackernneed what about Sammie Coates? Do you think he leaves early too?

It's pretty much common sense that they will. It's a good year to go early as a WR.

I will be shocked if they both come back. I do think Coates can improve his stock if he works on his hands. I think Duke is taking a big chance by coming back.

Not really. This is a pretty deep draft at WR IIRC. I think they go, but just looking at the WR class, next year would probably be a better year to go.

I think Duke has everything to lose by staying.

I think Coates will put up freakish combine numbers and be close to the 1st round or late second, and I don't know if staying improves that enough to chance it.

I think they both could have a lot to gain from staying, especially if Johnson plays like we think he will. I think right now they are both pegged at like 7/8th best receiver in the draft, or around there. With a good season next year, they could be top 3 no problem.

I don't think it's common sense really. Honestly, the best case scenario is taking out a huge insurance policy in case of injury and coming back. I doubt either go in the 1st round, so the money they'd be giving up is substantial. They're talented enough to still get drafted in the first 3 rounds even with an injury.

I could see both sides of the coin and make an argument for either. However, as both have experienced injuries I am certain the decision to jump now will be an easy one.

Agreed. I think both leave as well.

Coates probably won't improve his draft stock too much even with another season. He's a burner and has too many drops. Maybe he could improve on his catching abilities, but I think NFL teams already know his potential in the league.

Duke though could improve a great deal. He's a newcomer for the SEC and is just starting to truly catch the spotlight. A 2nd year with preseason hype could put him right with Amari Cooper in terms of NFL potential. In fact, I would say Duke Williams has the ability to be a top 10 pick next year if he stays.

Duke likely won't blow it away at the combine so that is hard to say. His draft will be based off performance and film. Being injured for 1/4 of the games doesn't help that. If he comes back he is likely the dominant receiver in the SEC and Biletnekoff Finalist which all but guarantees him 1st round no matter his combine #s

Coates is the weirder situation to me because GMs and how they feel about ball skills in college is so uncertain. Look at Martavis Bryant, average game tape but blows up combine and succeeding in the league. Guys like Terrell Owens had "drop" problems in college too

I don't know any specifics, but I don't see Duke having top end speed like Amari. I could very easily be wrong though.

AU should take insurance policies out on both to encourage them to stay.

I wasn't saying he's the same player as Amari, but he'll be just as coveted.

Amari is a route runner. A speed guy. Sure hands. Much like AJ Green.

Duke is the bigger bodied guy that the NFL loves right now. He looks and plays just like Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, and Andre Johnson.

Dez Bryant is the only one on that list he is like. Jones and Johnson are both taller and run sub 4.4 type speed at the combine. Johnson is taller and runs a 4.4
