Found this interesting. Glad to hear he's transitioning well to middle linebacker but I was unaware he was originally recruited at DE.

He definitely was not originally recruited as a DE. They have that wrong. He may have played some DE in HS, but he has always been a LB and was recruited as such.

Was definitely recruited as a LB out of High School.
Should be interesting to see if he's actually the pass rusher EJ is saying he is

McKinsey is about the same size as Lawson(250+), maybe a little taller.
We've heard about the Rhino package I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on a Cheetah package. When I was digging around learning about Washington St. I found that some of the PAC teams were using 4 defensive ends against Mike and his boys and it proved to be successful. The way that Gus and Company move people around I have a feeling the defense may be as "revolutionary" as the offense.
I just get the feeling that EJ is kind of excited. I know I am

What all this tells us is, we are low on DE's

Eh, they said in another article that Cass will only move there in our Dime package. Frost moves to MLB because he's better in pass coverage.

We may be low on quality DEs but this shouldn't be viewed as a sign of that. This a natural progression in year two of Johnson's defense here. Johnson said when he was hired that he ultimately wanted his defense to be multiple.

If Andrew Williams can pick things up quickly he could play some. We need to get Walker on board with his teammate.

That's what HE said. Maybe WE didn't recruit him as a DE, but I'm sure other schools did.

If that is what he said, they worded it in a strange way. The only quote on that section was about whether he liked putting his hand in the ground. The statement about being recruited as a DE seems to just be the author's opinion, not a direct quote.
Doesn't really matter though.

This was my initial thought as well. Pass coverage is something Cass has struggled with so let him rush and get a better cover LB in.

"It takes me back to high school," McKinzy said. "In high school, I was a d-end, recruited as a d-end, so it's just a matter of keep repping it out and trying to get back to it. I feel like if I keep on working at it, I can get it all back."

If I remember the wording correctly from EJ it's not a one or the other. He stated that McKenzy is an absolute killer when it comes to running backs. He stated that Cass has all of the tools to be one hell of a pass rusher, he just has to develop those talents so will be spending some time with Rodney.
