I think it's realistic to believe this is Rhett's last season here. I know the popular opinion among fans is to move on to someone different.

For starters, I don't believe either of the Briles are options due to the current allegations being reported from Baylor. I just don't think our athletics department would want to dabble with the Briles right now.

So assuming they're out, who are some other options we could look at?

Kendle Briles will be it. If I'm wrong, I hope it's someone that knows QBs and can add some sort of passing game.

First choice for me is Mike Bloomgren from Stanford. It'll be tough to pry him from Shaw, but with a nice salary and the opportunity to recruit in the south (plus an already loaded roster) we could potentially see him come to Auburn. It would be crucial though for Gus to make clear that he will have complete control of the offense and will be free to assemble his own staff.

Zak Hill would be another possible candidate from Boise State.

A third candidate would be Major Applewhite, but he might want to follow Herman to Texas if that deal works out.

ETA: Joe Wickline is another candidate we should consider from WVU.

It's do or die for Gus next year. He won't put his future in someone else's hands

This offseason, I expect Rhett to seek other opportunities. I also expect Tim Horton to be gone. Before you worry, he was seeking promotion opportunities last season. I don't think he gets our OC position but maybe at lower FBS schools or FCS.

Rhett isn't going anywhere in my opinion, even if keeking him is viewed as a coffin nail. He's been with Gus nearly every year since high school.

That's not happening as long as Gus is here.

The NCAA is talking to him about recruiting violations.

So he has experience using the bagman delivery system? Looks like we saved money on training costs

I kind of liked the offense with a healthy KP and SW.

If it's just a witch hunt by the ncaa, then he's good.

If he really did something but covered it up and ncaa let's him go, then get him. :D

It's not sustainable to rely on two guys to make the offense potent. We have talent at WR, and we have a TE too, but the success of Kam seems to have blinded the coaches to our other assets. We need an OC who knows how to fully use our offense.

So, just to be clear.....we've spent weeks raving about how Gus should have turned over play calling to Rhett so much earlier, and how great Rhett was doing....and then, injury takes away his two best weapons, we have a bad game, and now Rhett is back to being an f-ing moron?

ETA-we're basically the exact same fan base as LSU, with less homo colors.

I now believe Gus took control for the game Saturday. No proof, just looks too much like the bs from the first 3 games.

I think Lashlee might look for a job this off-season.

Certainty seemed to have his fingerprints all over it .... if not the fruit has indeed not fallen far from the tree.

I kind of feel bad for Rhett.
