I've kinda changed my stance on this matter. The notion that if you let maybe 10 posters in that the board will explode and AU will no longer have a clear outnumbering majority is false. As long as a poster is respectful and not a douchebag then I'm fine with it now.
There are several posters on this site that can read bad things about their team on other team boards without getting their jimmies rustled and going off on the matter. Source: I do it on the Arkansas board.
