He needs to get with the starting unit before he starts.

A lot of reporters had said Marlon Davidson may beat him out.

Supposedly Davidson is that good and Cowart is better though

I expect him to keep improving as the year goes on and be ready to start next year. We are in a good position with our defensive line in that we return several guys that kept improving last year and have a good two deep (or at least should).

Defensive line is a spot that is tough to compete at as an underclassman so Cowart's biggest issue is expectations that are unrealistic. I hope Derrick Brown shows up and can beast out and show a lot of improvement as a two deep guy this year as well as Jackson. Those two guys are really going to have to work because they will be needed next year.

I expect him to end up an absolute stud. It reminds me of what Lawson said in his interview with Stinchcomb. He just seems to be really slow on diagnosing the plays. That comes from a lack of just playing. I think that once Cowart gets comfy on the field his natural athletic gifts will come through again and he'll be an absolute beast again. Any of Lawson, Davidson, Cowart and Holland makes me happy at the DE spots.

I imagine Cowart is just solid this year and breaks out next year.

I'm fine with that if Davidson comes as promised + PF3/Holland as potential pass rushers

I just don't think he has enough pass rush moves right now. He isn't blessed with that or just didn't have the coaching that Davidson and Lawson did out of HS....at least that's what it seems like.

I expect him to play like an average SEC defensive lineman.

He lost some 15-20 lb. He should be pretty close to Lawson yoked by time summer is over if he keeps that ip

Meant in terms of Lawson being made of glass but Cowart being a bit of a knucklehead. If you combine the 2 you have a #1 NFL Draft DE

Will be interesting to watch Lawson long term injury wise.

ACL issue just wasnt discovered early but isn't a huge red flag anymore. Hip was a freak fall and he seems healed.

Watch him go to the -NFL and never miss a game
