JGT hinted at agent dealings as he said the sitch was similar to Chris Porter before we played Florida in 2000. CP was suspended for dealing w/ an agent. If true then both Bowers & the agent are idiots. I don't think Cim would even get a quality European league contract right now. Also it sounds like it may have happened before Friday but AU did not find out til after the LSU game yesterday.

Thanks for filling us in. Is it most likely a one game suspension? I'm guessing it would depend on the circumstances as well.

Cim is dumb if he thinks he has any Pro potential right now.

Hopefully it was simple contact and he didn't accept any benefits. If that's the case, I would think that would only get him a suspension. He's not the best in the world, but we could definitely use him next season.

I don't know who is a bigger moron, Bowers for thinking he could go pro somewhere or the agent for clearly not knowing shite about basketball to think Bowers was worth talking to

Nobody outside the program knows right now nor will likely speculate. Another more important question I have seen that won't likely be speculated on either til things shake out is Is it something that could affect the program (e.g., scholarship limitations, etc.).

Rumor is that he sold his tickets.

Hopefully that is all it is. That will be a suspension for X amount of games next season.

If he did anything of that nature, Pearl needs to cut him loose. Pearl has to establish himself as a by the books type guy that learned his lesson and let it be known nothing like this will be tolerated.

Overkill reaction. Showing he has learned his lesson will be simply not lying when talking to the NCAA. If he had not lied he would still be at UT and probably. not even have a penalty. The original offense was a kid on a UOV being at his house for a cookout. That's very minor.

The proper steps here are to report the incident and suspend the kid for the last game (which we did) & let the NCAA decide if there is more punishment needed to Cim.

1) As AUbagman you should be supportive of a player getting some money

2) Cutting loose over selling tickets is absurd. Multi game suspension would be extremely harsh compared to say Gurley who was reinstated.

I don't think it's an overkill reaction. If he did in fact sell his tickets, that's blatantly disregarding any semblance of common sense. You don't need a liability like that around a program that's rebuilding with a coach that just got out of the NCAA's doghouse. I'm sure we'll know soon enough.

Yeah, it'd be harsh comparative to Gurley, but I wouldn't compare the two situations. Regardless, I'm probably off-base and just having a knee-jerk reaction, I just don't want any distractions around the bball program, as the future looks bright.

I love him but you do realize we are talking about Cim right? Just watch his on court decisions shows he is common sense impaired.

I think this was all setup by Cim. Cim needed money, and thought, "I'll just sell my tickets and sit this game out...we don't have a chance anyway." That way, it would have the least impact on the season.

True. We'll see how it plays out. I'm probably blowing it out of proportion. I'd like to see Pearl go a little stricter than the standard punishment if true though.

I completely understand your mindset there. However with Reed's lack of late development, Atewe likely not coming back, & Spencer being our only current big in this class as the moment it would not be a good idea to slow the 2016 part of that bright future be letting him go w/out getting NCAA's input 1st. Don't forget we arguably have the best compliance guy in the nation working for us & worked in the NCAA compliance department. Let the man do his thing.
