The red flag with this "information" is the lack of detail provided. What day to day items are we talking about? Couldn't be any more vague.
You know the rules.
If you are saying positive things, you are just a homer who knows nothing
If you are criticizing Auburn, Auburn AD, Auburn coaches, Auburn players, your inside information must be legit

Name some "day-to-day operations" that we are melting over Gus not wanting anything to do with?
That just seems like such a buzz word. I'm trying to be open minded about our fleet of insiders that only appear when negative stuff happens but I can't melt when nobody knows what we're melting over

Gus can not have the mind set that he is only into this for the football aspect. The day to day tasks are the bread and butter of being the HC—it's the management aspect of the job...and it's a major aspect.
Day to day tasks include promoting the program (and any other marketing), checking up on all personnel (not just coaches) to insure they are fulfilling responsibilities as the laid out by the HC (nutrition, equipment, financial advisers), checking in on academics and the well-being of the players as students, and there's countless more I'm unable to think of now. It'd be nice for Gus to maybe make an appearance on campus every now or be more outspoken. Whether you're a leader of a football team or a company, I don't believe you're ever doing any favors by trying to be in the shadows as much as possible.
Bruce Pearl seems to do a good job tackling the day to day tasks.

Exactly. Otherwise why even hire a Head coach? Why not just field an OC and a DC and let them work separately?

Yup. This is what Saban excels at, which is why he is so successful.

I am not sure if it's "Gus doesn't want to have anything to do with". It may be that he has no idea how to handle the tasks needed of a HC. The best HC's are CEO's. They coach the coaches. There is a hell of a lot required of a HC other than on the field things. He has to oversee every aspect of the program. Gus may not have learned how to do that yet.

No one seems to be able to talk about what day to day activities Gus doesn't handle properly.
If I had to guess, it doesn't seem like an area he'd excel at. But Jones made the apt comment that this criticism sounds really "buzzworthy" and lacking substance

Two ?'s:
1) Why do any of you post on any board?
2)Do you want to find things out prior to the event, or are you good reading about it after?
If you don't want to read what someone heard, and prefer to learn about things after the fact, AL.com is your daddy.
If you want to hear things that others are hearing, without any verification... You are home.
Seriously, some of you need to GTFO of here. Why do you even have a membership? Adios amigos.

CSS was not a details guy and won a bushel basket of SEC titles, a national title and his most impressive feet was taking USCe to 3 11 win seasons.
I tend to believe Gus' is probably fine. They aren't building a clock. It is a football team. If he'd had a QB he would have won 9-11 games this year. Last year if he'd had a edge rushing DE he would have won 10-12 games. Things aren't as bad as they seem.
He must keep his DE and find a QB.
