Sorely needed. The track is kind of a ghost town down there.

How much revenue does track bring in? I honestly don't know the revenue breakdown for each sport.

My guess is football and bowls brings in a gigantic portion of revenues, so I think upgrade the hell out of anything football related first.

Net zero I am sure, just like most of the Olympic sports. In fact I'm sure there's a deficit for those sports. But you still have to feed them to keep up with the times.

Recruits would rather have the money than be "wowed." Schools likely would rather spend less money paying players than building ridiculous recruiting ploys.

So what and how do you pay them. A set amount that is the same for every school? then you are back to wowing them with your facilities. A salary cap type system? a slippery slope that will bite you in the arse

Institutional finances you spend your budget. there is absolutely no incentive to hoard profits/cash

I agree which is obviously an issue. People bitch that we do t profit more. I always question why should we profit? God knows the AD doesn't have any interest and putting money into the academic mission unless it is either PR or getting athletes better help to stay qualified

Never said I had an issue. If I did, I would be too busy wiping my arse with C notes to lost here

I just was acknowledging the problem which is easy to see when people stop trying to ignore it

I'd bet that all sports except Football run a true deficit

In a few years I can see our Basketball getting in the black if Pearl hangs around

I'd guess men's basketball and baseball may turn a profit, but football is the only true moneymaker.

They had a recent breakdown by sport, but I cant find it. As I recall this is true except there are a few small sports that pretty much break even or make a minor profit. Basketball should have a minor profit soon as well

Someone is getting worried about their job and is trying to look like he's trying to get something done.

Save some of that money and pay for an AD search team and Gus' buyout next year.

Bring back the EA Sports College football video game & give 1 to every FBS football player. Small but it would be nice. They win & fans who are gamers win.

I should say, I'm not saying AU should change what they are doing. It is like being in a class that grades on a bell curve and everyone cheats with the answer key. Being on the only person trying to fix the system gets you a "F"

The thing that bugs me is that the university completely bends over and takes it from athletics and essentially "pays" for this privilege. When I was a student I sat on some boards and it was nuts to me to see athletics have 100% full veto power on any issue. An example of ridiculous behavior, the LA Dodgers pay $14mil/year to rent parking around their stadium. The university owns all the lots/tailgate spaces and so on yet athletics gets free use + straight profit from selling those spots.

You may say "Well athletics is part of the University, you shouldn't charge athletics for that." Fair argument, until you realize that to advertise/sponsor Auburn athletics as an Auburn department, you have to pay the standard rate regardless of being part of the university.

I love Auburn football as much as any of you, but can we just get a few mil to update the Haley Center? Thach? There are buildings on campus that could use a few bucks. This is a fricking university, after all.

Crazy to me that they couldn't come up with some revenue sharing agreement with this game for players. Especially since my friends on the team use to love playing as "themselves." They thought it was awesome

In the process of the $1billion capital campaign that will be huge for improving campus.

Just keep in mind of that $1bil, the Athletic Department gets $247million/~25%.

Scroll down to University Units and you'lls see Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Background is blue of that part

I say we triple the bagman budget and go head to head with Ole Miss in buying players. I think the bagman has been fricking off of late.

Like Nerbstreet posted on twitter the other day. Players would gladly give up their likeness for a free game.

The university also greatly benefits from the AD, that is why they let them do their thing.

The university also uses AD facilities when needed as well.
