I am excited to announce today that I have asked the Office of the Board of Trustees to coordinate a campus visit for Dean Chris Roberts of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University. The visit will take place in Auburn and Montgomery, on Jan. 20 and 21 and will include public meetings with many Auburn constituencies. In the coming days, we will communicate Dr. Roberts’ schedule with you.

Could be coming to an end

Hopefully it will not be as colossal of a mistake as Leath was...

I always enjoyed Dr Roberts classes as a ChE undergrad. Down to earth dude and his door was always open to helping students.

The release also mentioned 2 other finalists but it sounded like they weren’t willing to be named unless they were selected

I know that doesn't rule them out ,but knowing how AU got burned by their last out of state hire of Leath, they may feel better keeping an insider at President.

It has always seemed like he was the frontrunner, but who knows..

And I can see why, if the others have prominent positions elsewhere they don't want their interviewing to be so visible. Don't want to burn any bridges...

Well it seems that the Engineering school has been doing much better than the rest of the colleges, so I am happy to see that it could be someone that came from that curriculum.

I was a ChE major until I got to physical chemistry. It was my kryptonite. One of my buddies out here in Utah works for Thiokol making weapons propellants. AU ChE, masters at BYU. He can't really talk about what he does which makes it all the more interesting.

(edit) If a President can raise funds, and can keep the academic/administration/student factions in higher ed at bay, then you've got a great president. Sounds like this guy checks all the boxes.

We could do much worse than Dr. Roberts in my opinion. Wish him the best if he’s the guy as I know he’ll do well.

PChem was not a fun class but I had a hot lab partner that made it worthwhile . I had some old white hair dude as teacher, nicknamed Dr. Death. Chemistry dept at AU was full of a bunch of odd professors when I was there

So many frickers always wanting "new blood" (like that from Iowa State?) to come in and change shite.

I'm OK with someone who knows Auburn and loves Auburn.

But, that being said, it likely won't change the march of woke academia through the universities throughout the USA, including Auburn.

Good time to come in, with nothing big happening at the moment it gives him time to get his footing.
