Agreed. Shots were dropping. Good at the line. Great win on the road against LSU and the refs.

Bowers played well too. That pass to Granger for the score after his drive to the bucket was sweet.

I don't think it is a coincidence that we played better with Kenneth only getting 14 minutes of pt.

We were up by 8 pts at one moment against LSU. After we scored to go up 8, LSU passed the ball in play and drove down the court. KC inflicted a foul and sent LSU to the line...killed all the momentum we picked up.

He's fricking awful, and I'd be more pleased to see Purchase take the ball up the floor.

Not confirmed but 2015 5* PF/C Caleb Swanigan is another possible visitor.

We've been playing much better since we cut Kenny's minutes.

eta: Looks like TJ is getting the minutes Alex Thompson was getting. I don't know about the previous 2 games but I thought he made a positive impact last night.

Agreed. I think Lang has some talent. He needs some real game minutes so the game will start to slow down for him. Once things slow down in his head, his shot will start to fall. He has a good stroke.

He had decent minutes at the beginning of the year. He wasn't a huge contributor but never seemed like a major liability beyond obvious freshman playing issues.

I'd like to see more Purchase. That kid isn't afraid to get involved in the paint despite being unathletic and skinny.

I want him in there too. Once he gets his confidence back, he Is a real threat from 3.

Also, the old adage that you can't teach size is being disproven by Reed.

He is a 7'2" center trying to play like a small forward. He bends at the waist on defense making himself as small as possible and doesn't move his feet and then tries to time his jump to block a shot.

Stand your tall, lanky arse up, hold your long, lanky arse arms up and protect the basket. Forcing bad shots is just as good as blocking a good shot. Leaning over and fouling someone every 12 seconds isn't helpful.

He is going for the Dikembe says "No" block. He isn't doing the 2014 Roy Hibbert Pre All Star Hands up Jump Up block.

I agree he needs to just be vertical. He almost should be forced to put his hands straight up in the air the entire time he is on D. He isn't going to get any teals from balls passed in the lane anyways

Reed's layup that didn't even hit rim was embarrassing.

His offensive game is worst than Hibbert's when Hibbert was a freshman, and Hibbert never really became a true offensive threat until his senior year. So, other than Reed being a nightmare for opposing teams offense, I don't know what to expect from him.

Everything is spinning and moving too fast for him right now. Very common for players when they move from hs to college. Like Lang and Purchase, his offensive game will look much better once things slow down in his head. Also, for some reason, games are much different than practices/scrimmages in this regard. The only real solution is playing time.

However, where he can help this team right now is by just being tall and playing defense like a raw 7'2" guy should.

That was one of the things I noticed with the LSU big man when some of our guys were trying to drive to the basket. He literally just stood there and put his hands up and they had to float the ball so high to get it over him that they missed a ton of those.

Doesn't help when you don't have a healthy guy on your roster that can simulate opponents 6'6+ C/PFs. I'm sure it is easy for him to stuff Bower's shots in practice and so hard to get it through his head that not all post players are 6'5 like at AU/HS games

This is what hurt about Reed not being here for first half of the season. All the games with teams that weren't good enough to overwhelm Reed like ULL, Coastal, Milwaukee etc have come and gone.

They really need to make a rule for him that his hands should be straight up at all times on defense. He'll look like a goon but be the most effective defensive post player we have.

That is how Reed needs to play D.

Eta: commenting on Ole Miss game.
