No.

I'm all for throwing JFIII out there if SW isn't at least 80% by the time bowl practice starts, because we know JJ isn't ever going to get any better.

But he's simply not a QB. He has no situational awareness, and if he hasn't acquired it by now he never will.

Besides, the guy wasn't even that highly thought of as a recruit. I don't understand why anyone ever thought he would succeed as a QB at this level.

I was basing it on his inability to crack the starting lineup at EMCC, despite being the most physically gifted athlete on the entire team. Or maybe him quitting at F$U because he wasn't getting enough playing time as a redshirt FR (or maybe because Jimbo didn't think he had a future as a QB and tried to get him to play WR).

Mayfield led his Texas HS team to a state championship, had P5 offers, but claims he held out for one from TCU that never came. The fact that he 'walked on' to a starting role in his first game as a true FR at Texas Tech (apparently the first QB ever to do so at the FBS level) says a lot about his abilities.

Nick was primarily recruited as an athlete (18th best player out of GA), and had offers from most of the major SEC and ACC schools out of HS. When he got bounced from UGa he ended up going to Garden City CC where he was promised a shot at QB. He ended up with 37 TDs (18 passing, 19 rushing) and >4000 yards total offense as the starter there. JFII managed about 1200 yards and 16 TDs (7 passing, 9 rushing) mostly in mopup duty at EMCC.
