I saw that little package of clips and he said Punt Bama Punt happened inside JHS and I just laughed.

If they want to build up the reputation of JHS even more than it already has been, so be it.

Side note- I was 9 months old at the time, and trying to get my nap on.

Blocked punt, my lunatic parents go bananas and wake me up. I scream, they calmed me down and I went back to sleep.

Second block, bananas again. I haven't been the same since.

On the subject of PBP based parental damage - I was 2 in 1972 and cannot remember the game. But, of course, we lost the next 9 Iron Bowls in a row. My mother had a little record of the Auburn radio broadcast of the '72 game and every year from 1973-81, she sat me down and made me listen to it as soon as that year's game was over. There was a time I could recite it word-for-word and to this day I can probably recall most of it.

Today I tell people it was a form of abuse. I'm joking...mostly.

14 years old in 72 but not yet a fan. My older brother at Auburn came home (in Florida) very excited and told us younger ones all about it.

I was 4 days old...born November 28th 1972. I was a c-section baby, and my Mom was still in the hospital that Saturday. Needless to say, I frequently heard the stories growing up of them calling my Mom after each blocked punt, but all she could hear was yelling and commotion. Hell, I might have had another name those first 4 days, but after that I have been David for the rest of my life (Langner).

I was 8 in 72 and Dad watching TV was beside himself. He loved Auburn.

My Moms would pop up a large paper grocery bag of popcorn, make some sammiches, take some drinks, and Pops would drive us to the drive-in for the double-feature.

Since there were four of us kids, we’d carry along lawn chairs for us to sit in outside the car.

Good times, man. A lot simpler, but good.

A thread that I initiated based on a complaint turns into a nostalgia-fest. Good stuff!

Ive done it. My dad and uncle took me to Atlanta Motor Speedway in my dads truck and park in the infield. Three in the front because no stupid King cabs then. We had chairs, a cooler and a hand held radio. We would watch the races and listen to the radio at the same time.

Collect Call from Shug

I was too young to remember the game but my dad had this “45” that I played over and over on his record player. Sort of a Bob Newhart phone skit kinda thing. The other side of it was a skit called “I wanna play for you, Bear”. Wonder if anybody else remembers this from their childhood.
