Joshua Palacios hit a HR for the Blue Jays major league team in ST today. Crazy Co sideline he was playing at AU in 2016 and didn't play above Class A in the minors last year

Explain to me how Anfernee Grier's Single A numbers were so poor this year, but an article I read said he's the Diamondbacks #5 prospect and expected to debut in the majors around late 2018 or early 2019. Is there really that big of an adjustment from high level college ball to low level minor league?

Well to answer the second question, yes there is. But the Dbacks farm system royally sucks right now, which is why he's in the #5/#6 range for them. The guy doing the evals at Fangraghs has him as a future value 40 prospect, which would make him a 4th OF/borderline starter type in the majors.
Hopefully he gets it turned around, but struggling at rookie ball at 21 isn't a good sign.

I read that he only played 4 games in rookie ball before moving up to Single A. I think the season was already over when he turned 21 too.

He crushed in the minors last year. He will probably spend most of the year in AA.

Anfernee was hurt last year. Plus he struggles with plus breaking balls. He probably won't ever be a HoFer, but will be a reliable OF for a few years.
Auburn's next major leaguer will be either Garrett Cooper or Trey Cochran-Gill then Trey Wingenter and Josh Palacios.

A lot guys struggle that first year. The jump to a ball is decently steep and you have been playing almost non-stop since at least the august before, so a lot of guys hit a wall. It is really tough to adjust to playing everyday, riding on buses, taking care of your body against guys that already have that down

College ball you're playing 1 game during the week and 3 games on the weekends. In Class A you're taking 5-12 hour bus rides, hopping off the bus, playing 5 games while staying at a low end hotel, then hop back on a bus and going to your next opponent. Add on top of that you're playing with the cream of the crop from all levels of college plus half the locker room is now Dominican, Venezuelan, Colombian, etc.
It's truly becomes a grind in Class A and especially so if you're not a prospect that the organization particularly has a high stake in.
Eta: I've got several buddies now that are anywhere between rookie level and AA. All of them are pitchers and they're quick to say it's the most cut throat thing they've ever witnessed. An elbow sprain can kill your career at that level in a scout's eyes.

Baseball is looking good. Up 4-0 B5. Lipscomb's starter is a pro prospect but doesn't have his best stuff today. Still good to be hitting a stud like this pitcher, even on one of his worse days. Keegan is cruising.

Only 1 K against Puckett with 6 runs is very encouraging.

A 4 run 8th gives Auburn the 5-4 win on Saturday.

We're occasionally going to drop a game we shouldn't. As long as we are taking 2 out of 3 I don't care

I don't know why we pitched D-rob as opposed to Mitchell, we must be saving him for Tuesday.

Our pitching is trash outside of Thompson and Mize. No surprise there
