Didn't want to hijack the recruiting thread but I'd like a primer on where we stand heading into signing day, which is next week correct?

The Panthers Super Bowl run has been a nice distraction from the roller coaster ride of recruiting but I would like to have a passing knowledge of the guys who'll be suiting up in the fall

Can someone help a barner out?

Look at our class now.

Subtract David Marshall

Add Stephen Davis Jr and the Craig-Meyers brothers and a couple of backup plans.

Pray for Brown.

It's not bad until you look at what our three biggest rivals and Ole Miss are doing.

Could have really used a big time OT, LB, and QB imo and it looks like we'll whiff pretty good on all three.

If we don't get Brown and Marshall flips we'll be light on the DL too considering our needs.

Not good for LBs this class.

WR Myers, CB Myers, Nixon are all 4* guys

SDjr is a high upside, raw LB/ SS type.

Soem bigger guys left on the board for us. Looking good on 5* Brown, 4* Sammons but neither are locked up. 4* EJ Price is tough to read.

It's a good finish and a good class from a pretty unremarkable start to this cycle.

I'm happy. Especially happy if you go back and look at the recruiting melts on this class from what 6 months ago?

Wash, rinse, repeat

That being said, I'm thinking if we can fill some holes to eke out at least 10 wins in 2016, we can make up for any misses in the 2017 cycle?

Honestly, with our style of play, I don't ever see a highly ranked LB ever coming here. We need to develop what we get. It doesn't help we have so much turnover at DC. I am hoping Steele can help here.

So is the consensus that last years signing day fap fest will be followed up this year with a lulz fest.

The vibe I get is it (the class) will be viewed as filling gaps on our depth chart. Keep in mind it will be a top 10 class.

Hijacking a thread by keeping or getting it on point?Yep! That makes a lot of sense. You just wanted to start a new thread & didn't want to read the other 1. Nothing wrong w/ that BTW. Just calling a spade a spade.

Strong summary.

If we can keep our coaches on D around for more than a year then yeah, maybe.

Class good

Fills some needs and misses on some others.

It won't be good enough for the Frick Gus, Steele is a meh hire, I hope Lashlee leaves, Craig better not leave, Hope TWill kills it as LB coach, Fire JJ, and Fire Garner fans though.

It likely will appear that way to our fans but the grade & team ranks may be very similar.

SDjr is very similar to Shaq Thompson, Panthers LB/Big Nickel S, out of HS. Thompson has been an incredible weapon for Carolina who can switch from a 4-3 to 4-2-5 presnap with Thompson able to be either OLB/S

SDjr - 6'4 215lb, 4.5-4.6 40, Safety/athlete

Shaq Thompson - 6'2 210lb, 4.5-4.6 40, Safety/Athlete

Not a lulz fest at all if you are a rational and intelligent fan, but then this thread was meant to give information to the dummies, so they may struggle to see the good in it.

All of you will point and laugh at me, but I feel Steele was the best man for our DC. We will never have a top 10 D nationally, but if he will stay, recruit, and field us a top 5-7 D in the SEC, I will be thankful.

Maybe I should have been more specific. Last year we closed very strong on signing day with big recruits. This year it seems like the hay is in the barn and there really won't be many good surprises on signing day itself.
