I didn't have the weekly confidence in that team as I did the 2004 team
I what I loved about 2004 is that team would come out and just dominate early and often.

True but the positions I am least worried about early draftees is QB and RB.

The butthurt is strong wit somebody lurking the first page.
What's worse in ya'lls opinion: to go up big early, cruise through the second half and sweat it out that you'll hang on 2004 style, OR, go down early, step on the gas in the second half and sweat it out that you can score in the last minute and pull out a win 2013 style?

He has worse hands than Sammie.
Sammie = brick hands with ADD
Ricardo = butterfingers

I can't name them but I feel positive there's been more. Either way that's still not good when you only have 52 catches. Lets call it 6 career drops to be safe and fair. Hes dropping it 10% of the times the ball hits him in the hands.
He also has a problem tracking down the ball. There's been plenty of times he's been open and taken a bad angle and not gotten there, or had it go straight through his arms without actually touching it which isn't technically a drop.

under thrown balls cant be held against him, and neither can balls over thrown by inches. The only reason people think he drops balls is when he does, you remember it. People rarely remember the balls Amari Cooper dropped, but he had plenty in his career, none bigger than the 2013 IB in the endzone.
I have found in sports, some players are remember for their accomplishments, and others for their mistakes. Rico and Sammie are the latter of the two. Sucks because they have made some remarkable plays in their career at Auburn.

quote:I can't name them by name but I can tell you we had a debate about Sammie & Rico's hands after the 2013 season. That prompted me to go through the 2013 game film & results were Rico dropped 1 out of every 4 passes that were easily catchable (bad hands) while Sammie dropped 1 in 8 (surprisingly average). I feel Sammie got worse in 2014. Not sure about Rico & I'm not doing the research again as that took too long.

quote:He dropped 25% in 2013. Based on today's WR performances 10% is actually about average.

Depends on how you define "drop"

If we get up big early I look at who I'm with and say hey we scared them at the very least.
If we get down early I hit the bottle

I'm not holding under thrown or over thrown balls against. I'm talking about balls that were perfectly catchable that he just couldn't track down for whatever reason. There's been plenty and a lot of have been bad enough that if you weren't paying attention you'd think Nick threw a bad pass.

On the other hand, Louis has had issues with drops and made high-profile mistakes tracking the deep ball over the past two seasons, costing him the No. 3 receiver role last year.

I'm not concerned if they go pro because I am comfortable with the talent we have remaining. This does not mean I hope they go pro as I would love for them to stay.

If he has a big year this season I think it'd be smart to stay for his senior year. If he starts off his senior year with the hype of one of the best returning QBs and players in college football, preseason Heisman contender, and continues to improve he could elevate himself to #1 overall pick status.
On the other hand, this feels like a weak QB class so if he can play at a high level and prove he's one of the top QBs he might be able to get a first round grade this season and there's no reason to pass that up.

McShay's 1st 2016 Mock Draft is out. He has Duke selected #8 overall by the Rams & Carl #23 to the Ravens.
