Do any of you expect there to be a real competition this year?

Will Sean play like JJ did last year and some this year? Will he have a real chance of winning the competition or is this JJ's team right after the bowl game.

I like the idea of having a QB designated right out of the gate but I've heard that Sean White is incredibly accurate and can also run.

Do you want to see a competition or give it to JJ based on his game performance he's already shown?

I agree, and I would be a little concerned about team chemistry if SW did beat him out of the job.

First of all, I also agree that JJ will probably be the man of the next two years. But if White fairly beats him out, I don't see why that would affect the chemistry. Players want the best guys playing. If White is better, he will play

I'm just happy we have some stability at quarterback for the foreseeable future. The Clint Moseley\Kiehl Frazier days are behind us.

This is true if White beat him out. It becomes a problem when coaches have to split hairs to decide and usually that goes to the upper classmen. Players have minds of their own and often get upset about coaching decisions.

If JJ comes out and goes beast mode next year and has a Heisman caliber year what are the chances he declares? He's already got the physical attributes and has film playing solid as a backup, he just has to prove himself as the man

The qb carousel has made me dizzy over the past decade. JJ should be solid, but I hope White gets more reps next year than JJ did this year.

I do too, cause that means the defense isn't shite and allows for younger players to get some meaningful time.

Cue the, "Team Whitey," sig pics.

Seriously, I would rather there be an open competition and the best player be put on the field.

Team JJ is gonna smoke 'em, anyway.

JJ solidified the starting job by absolutely carving up what turned out to be a decent Arky defense. There's nothing SW can do on the practice field that equates to what the coaches have seen from JJ against real SEC competition. Not to mention the arse beating he put on that directional school we played last year when Nick was banged up

If Sean White started throwing 100% completion in practice and trucking DTs like he deserves a show on the history channel, I'm sure we would start him.

This thread is everything that is wrong with our team, especially the defense. Football is about competition, anointing starters is what had screwed our defense. Everyone should have to compete every single week to start.

You're right the coaches agree with no competition.

JJ has already proven to me he's the starter. Guy throws a good catchable deep ball. Something we haven't had in a while.

ETA: he's already proven he can lead the team. What he did the first half against Arky is more impressive to me than what NM has shown as a passer at any point in his QBing career.
