But what about at WR and on defense?

Our talent in this class on defense is very good and fits our needs just fine. We just are lacking DE and DT recruits, which I agree is concerning. But it's freaking September, it's a long way to go. High school students have barely started their senior year. We aren't going to get 5 stars all over the place all the time until we have sustained success as a program, just the way it is.

If you were seriously thinking we were going to get good WR recruits when we have been throwing the ball 10 times a game last year I don't know what to tell you. Our WR recruiting is going to suck until we start to pass the ball regularly again. Same for TE, we aren't going to get top TE recruits because it;s not really used much in Gus's system (at least not right now anyway).

I am sure we'll be fine, but those making excuses for the lack of quality recruits are not being honest with themselves.
Just passing on info from people in the program. Also asked Bryan Matthews about it yesterday while at work at the game and he confirmed all of it. Don't know how much more honest it gets than that.

I believe you 100%. Still doesn't mean we are bringing in the type of athletes our peers in the SEC west are.

Don't we have a pretty big group of guys coming in for the LSU game? Who are we expecting?

I'll preface this by saying I might have the stars for some of these players wrong because I'm too lazy to look each guy up.

When it comes to DT/DE recruiting, there always seem to be a lot of kids that grow into the position SR year. DE especially, think about all the 6'5 athletic freaks that just are too slight in frame to be really considered (Kennion comes to mind). I am worried about DT but I'm sure we can find some 6'3 DE who is 260ish that can bulk up to 300 for DT

Agreed. Barring a couple of blockbusters on the DL in this class that point is unarguable.

the problem with that is that we will need two or three deep next year and asking a kid to pack on 40 pounds in an offseason is a lot if not impossible.

Our starters will be possibly top 2 or 3 in the SEC across the front with Daniel and Adams at tackle and with Lawson at one end and pick the other end. two deep will be very hazy next year though. We need tackles something fierce and a couple ends.

as for the rest of the class, I would love to see us pick up a top tier receiver or two to close out the offensive side of the ball.

I think the starting d-line next year will be
Lawson-End
Lambert-Tackle
Adams-Tackle
Daniel-End

Unless we have some young DE's emerge I expect Daniel to stay at end and Lambert move to tackle. The first 4 will be rock solid, just need a few more guys for depth and we will be ok.

Our 2016 d-line scares the shite out of me. I feel like Adams and Lawson could easily go pro.

I like those types too. We took 2 last year in Kennion and Thorton, but I wish we could sign at least one that is ready to go off the bat like Marquavious Lewis

If So Car continues to tank is there any chance he looks around?

Also, surprised Javon Patterson is coming to AU instead of Oxford for the bama game.

I guess there's always a chance in recruiting, but I highly doubt it. He recently said in n interview that it's been hard being away from his family in South Carolina for 2 years in JUCO and how special it would be to play back home.

Rochester is coming back this weekend. Niebuhr said he could see him committing by end of the year!! Come on Marlon Davidson...

What Adams, Lambert, Wright etc. are doing is being noticed. Thank you Coach Garner.

I really wish Lawson didn't get injured so that our DL would not only be dominant but show what a real edge rusher could do for us. Seems like we don't have a DE we can point to this year to show the quality DE recruits with Lawson out

Where are we recruiting him? OL or DL? I forget

I know I read from one of the sites he could go either way

You either have a bad memory or confused him with someone else, maybe Kendrick Norton. JP has been an OL recruit for AU from Day 1.

I remember him always being recruited for one position, just thought I remembered him grading out well as a DL recruit as well.

Very well could be Norton. I also very well be full of it

I saw Something on Twitter about a 5* DT visiting, Julian Rochester. Can someone give me a run down on him.

jlrljr or whatever says neibs thinks he may commit by year's end. He's visiting for like the billionth time this weekend, which makes 2 weekends in a row. He's good friends with carl lawson and prefers the 4-3, allegedly.
