UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!... it's what I yell at my tv every time we drop one.

Is amari cooper NFL calibre?..... dude had a HUGE drop in the iron bowl in the endzone.... it's a fact of life in college. Just get used to it.

I expect perfection on every play.

I still think Coates drops too many balls. He dropped an easy touchdown this year already.

I tried watching that play about ten different times, and it appeared to me that the underneath DB tipped that ball very slightly. Still could've been caught, but it does ease the pain if it wasn't just a flat out drop, IMO.

Plus this may be old school but I was taught growing up for receivers that if you touch it you catch it, no excuses.

my first step-dad used to use those exact words and every time I see one of our guys drop one I hear those words in the back of my head. I know it's a bit over the top, but I'd say for most situations that saying holds true.

You were taught poorly.

It's college man.... everybody drops passes. we aren't running the air raid, so we aren't practicing the passing game 100% of the time... and when we do pass, nick doesn't exactly throw the most catchable ball on the planet (tends to throw high with a ton of velocity). I'm not sure what some of you are expecting... it's frustrating to me as well... but watch any game on Saturday and you're gonna see a bunch of dropped passes, especially from teams that run the ball a lot.

It is college. You want to be a high level Wide Receiver in this league, you don't drop balls. Period. He's a very good receiver. But I'm not going to put you in the top level of receivers if you can't consistently do the most important job of your position. I don't care what your excuses are. You being on a running team has nothing to do with catching the passes you are thrown. Everything else is useless if you drop balls.

That should be the standards you set for yourself. But as a fan, I can't expect you to catch everything you touch.

Except 'high level' wide outs drop passes in this league every Saturday. I just pointed out Amari Cooper... Julio Jones is another. Justin Hunter dropped the hell out of some passes, yet still went in the 2nd round. AJ Green as well.

Repeat after me.... everybody drops passes in college

I'm not talking about dropping passes every now and then. I'm talking about consistently dropping balls that should be caught. Which is what Sammie does.

I don't see Cooper, Green, and Hunter consistently drop those balls. Julio had some struggles with it.

Define consistently... once a game?... I'm betting Coates doesn't averaged more than one drop per game over his career... probably less.

if you're not seeing other WRs drop passes, then you're not watching college games. It just seems like Auburn drops more bc you pay more attention to our games and know our players better.

Kelvin Benjamin consistently dropped balls all of last year for FSU. In fact, he dropped more than one in the Champ game before ultimately grabbing the game winning touchdown. When you are a weapon of that caliber (which Coates is), drops are excusable.

Benjamin dropped his way into the first round where he's now Carolina's #1 receiver.

That still does not make it acceptable. I'm not going to bash Sammy for dropping the TD but I'm not going to excuse him for it "because everybody drops balls". The standards need to stay high.

If you think it's unacceptable, then maybe you need a reality check on your expectations.

What's the alternative since it's unacceptable to you... should the coaches sit Sammie until his hands improve?.... that's fking retarded. Damand that he get better?... I'm sure they're working on catching every day in practice.

The bar is set high... but this is college bro.

Nice job of taking someone's POV way out of proportion and completely exaggerating it. There is no alternative. The standard is if you can grab it you catch it. No excuses. You always strive for perfection even though perfection can't be fully achieved because human nature is if you are not at least striving for perfection then you're performance will likely suffer. Make no mistake either about my POV. I'm not Bobby Knight and don't believe in ridiculing players like I think you are wrongly interpretting my POV. No you don't sit Sammy but you don't make him or any other player weaker minded either by lowering the standard on simple mistakes like dropping balls just because other players do it.

Enough that I noticed the problem. I don't have a certain stat for you.

I watch most SEC games. If I miss a game I usually watch the replay somewhere. And while I do of course watch the Auburm games first, I usually get around to watching UGA and Bama if it's against a quality opponent.

There's also other areas of Sammie's game that are keeping him from being a Julio, AJ Green, Kelvin Benjamin level receiver.

Of course it's excusable. If it wasn't I would be calling for someone else to start over him. But I'm not. I'm just saying he's not an elite WR on the college level from what I've seen. I think he has the tools to be but he's not there yet.

I seriously doubt my mindset as a fan has any effect on the standard Coates and the coaches set for him and the rest if the WR core ... what I'm talking about are our expectations as fans, which are most of the time way out if line with reality.

Anyone who denies that Sammie has improved significantly from year to year is either lying or just being argumentative. And to say that he still consistently has drops is asinine.

If you want to call out Louis or Stevens, have at it. They need work, hard work.

It isn't success some aren't handling well, it's handling being wrong that seems to be the issue today, for some. DWI
