Im in this school of thought. If Bama is the better opportunity then absolutely take it but the point of college sports imo is to cheer for YOUR school's teams. You can always cheer for AU in all the other games but I don't understand attending a school then hating their sports teams because as a kid you chose one school for whatever reason

Anyway congrats on that cash & enjoy your time in school. All that free time evaporates fast in the real world

+1. I guess if the OP received a full ride scholly itd be different, but the lifetime of explaining why he went to Bama would be annoying.

Being a Banana fan shouldn't make you hat Auburn. Root for your alma mater then root for AU too

What are you planning on majoring in?

Managment Info. Systems.

Guys I'd def be going to AU if they had given me what Bama did (essentially a full ride) but I have 3 siblings so parent's couldn't make up the difference of Full tuition + 52k vs whatever a 30 on the ACT gets at Auburn (I think like haf tuition)

I have no problem with any of this. My neighbor's kid went to Bama and is majoring in this too. He's interning for a software company in Bham this summer. I will say this, the kid has turned into the stereotypical, Bama frat boy. He used to be pretty cool and now he's a total douche.

So, go to Bama, enjoy the football experience, try not to become a total Bama frat douche.

Join the fricking army while you can. Your IQ will drop daily while around the got dam gumps. There is no 1A, 1B thing. That is for gay Mississippi or Texas teams. This is JIHAD.

If you are somehow forced to go to alabama, I suggest the military or suicide as best options. May God be with you.

Completely agree here. Root for Bama while you're in school there. It will be more fun, and it's not like it's the most important thing in life. You can always pull for Auburn again after you're finished, or in every game they play that isn't Alabama.

DO NOT turn down free money.

I couldn't listen to people trash the school I like for 4 years. Because it's going to happen and he'll be subjected to hearing about it whether he's in class or on gamedays or at the bars on the weekend.

Not really. Lot of the students couldn't care less about football. I know this for a fact. When I was there I noticed several that wore Auburn caps and what not and they were not fricked with by the student population. It's the updykes he'd have to deal with and he'd never be mingling with them unless he would be hanging with them on game day. Most students are not straight up updykes.

The most compelling argument y'all have is that he wouldnt be able to enjoy cheering for his favorite football team at his own school but even that fact is overblown. I didn't mind.

Alabama students/alumni when not in some pissing contest are generally reasonable. They aren't perfect but aren't giant dicks

I have nothing but horrible things to say about 99% of the sidewalk fans however. They go out of their way to be obnoxious aholes

Yep! They are so easy to frick with though that everything balances out. Getting them flustered is easier than stealing from a baby.

It is annoying that none of them seem to even attempt to follow the team. I know more about Alabama football than they do.

I don't understand how you can be that emotionally invested in something yet not invested enough to even know beyond the 2-3 star players

I highly recommend not being a contrarian, and giving Bama a fair shake for your fanhood. You can like both teams despite popular belief, and you specifically are within your rights to.

College will be a lot more fun if you embrace the football season and camaraderie of fanhood with your fellow students. Don't be too cool to cheer for the Tide.

I went to Georgia Tech and have since been a fan of both. It's less of a conflict of interest and I'm not sure how I'll feel if the 2 ever play eachother again.

The difference is only $1,000 a year.. You may want to ask about this... Really want you at Auburn...

A 30 and a 3.5 used to get full tuition in 2014. I had heard that had gone up and now you only get $8,000 per year. Still that is near a full ride.

Founders Scholarship
Requires a 30-32 ACT or equivalent SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration.
Awarded at $32,000 over four years ($8,000 per year).

Presidential Scholarship
Requires a 33-36 ACT or equivalent SAT score and a minimum 3.5 high school GPA for consideration.
Awarded at the value of resident tuition over four years, currently $36,288 for four years ($9,072 per year).
