Never has a city been given a 3rd chance at a sports franchise.
I hope this is third times a charm.

Supposedly Wayne Gretzky is involved. Makes sense considering how popular the Battery is

Aren't the Nationals the third iteration of an MLB team in DC?
Washington Senators (1901-1960) became the Minnesota Twins
Washington Senators (1961-1971) expansion team became the Texas Rangers
Washington Nationals (2005-present) former Montreal Expos.

I don't understand a new arena, they can just play in Gas South.

Did not know DC had a 3rd chance.
I think the point of it being a long shot still stands.

NHL in gas south?
Seating capacity for the gladiators is about 11,000.
Average annual attendance was about 15,500 for the thrashers at Philips Arena. In 1999-2000, it was 17,206 per game.
The way games were structured for gladiators in gas south, it looked like it maxed at 7000 (but I can acknowledge that they could rearrange it for more if needed).

Tempe is voting on whether to get a new arena or not on the 15th. If not then the Coyotes will move to Houston or here.
