Falcons trade their 2023 5th to Detroit for Jeff Okudah. Interesting buy low opportunity on a corner who was taken #3 overall the same year the Falcons took AJ Terrell.

interior DL WITH legit top 5 NFL rank ceiling are as rare as a Falcons winning season

With questionable decision making and potentially out of shape lazy tendencies.
He could end up great but he might also bust.
Dangerous at #8.

I like the Okudah trade simply because surely it guarantees they won’t draft a corner.

If Jalen Carter is on the board at #8 and the Falcons pass, I’ll just stop watching them for good.

Falcons about to go in dry on the rest of the division. This must be what it feels like to not be Dimitroff'd.

I dunno, it’s a pretty mediocre division and we don’t have a proven QB. Not sure ATL is going in on anything other than MEH.

The best QB in the division is Derek Carr, who is the dictionary definition of mediocre. This is a very winnable division and I actually expect the Falcons to win it as long as Ridder doesn't fall on his face. This should be an immensely improved team, and there will be a whole bunch of cap space next offseason too.

And what proven qbs do the rest of the division have? ATL just upgraded their defense big time, and resigned some OL. There are still holes but most of them have been shored up. Going into the draft we can just go BPA at every pick and come out on top. Ridder is the only question mark, but if he ain't the answer, we can go all in on a qb in the next draft. I think this team will be good enough to not have to force Ridder to carry this team. Hell look at Mariotas numbers and if Ridder can do anything better, we could add several more wins. Running the ball a lot like we do, also will take a lot of pressure off Ridder. Plus as of now, our schedule looks pretty damn weak.

A lot of things had to go right in the offseason, and they surprisingly did. This team took a giant leap forward this offseason, with still time left to make another leap.

Oh I'm not disagreeing with any of your points, just saying that EVERY fanbase is optimistic about any/all offseason moves their respective team made. It's April and everyone is 0-0.

I've been heartbroken too many times by the Falcons that even if this were the 4th quarter of the SB and we were up by 17pts, I'd still expect us to stumble and bumble our way into an L.

Really? This is the hypothetical you went with? Not like we haven't ever seen this happen before...

I don’t expect another Super Bowl in my lifetime.
Winning a crappy division and losing to a wild card team? Pfffft.

People said the same things about the Braves and Dawgs as recently as 2 years ago.

Never say never

Well I mean the Braves won it in 1995 and I was a kid. They just won it 2 seasons ago so they’ve won 2 in my lifetime and I’m under 42. Not the best but not the worst for a franchise.

UGA going back to back was improbable as they seemed to always blow big games but usually against a stacked Bama team. The Falcons are just cursed.

Sources: The #49ers have received inquiries from several teams looking into a potential trade for former No. 3 pick QB Trey Lance. The conversations have been the result of SF fielding the calls, not making them, with teams aware that Brock Purdy is likely the future starter.

Supposedly, the Falcons really wanted him coming out of college and would have taken him at #4 instead of Kyle Pitts if he was still on the board.

You're right.

But most of my friends are Falcons fans so I do want them to do well.
