The Braves did not announce the results of the X-ray exam performed Wednesday and will not provide any further information until Freeman is re-evaluated Thursday morning. But there is at least reason to believe the X-ray did not reveal a fracture.

Good luck to Matt Wisler with his first start of the season tonight against the 1st place team in their division.

If Wisler gives up 6 IP, 1 ER tonight then I will officially be on board the "OUR YEAR" train.

From Braves official Twitter:

"Test results today on Freddie Freeman’s left wrist came back negative and Freeman is day-to-day."

GREAT news. Huge exhale.

FREDDIE IS OKAY!!!

Mark Bowman
@mlbbowman
Today's tests confirmed Freeman did not fracture his left wrist. As expected, he wants to play tonight.

Glad Freddie's coming back soon, hope he keeps that wrist healthy:

quote:

Freddie Freeman has no fractures in his left wrist and is considered day-to-day. Phew. Freeman got struck on the wrist by a 90 mph Holby Milner fastball on Wednesday night -- the same wrist he fractured in 2017 -- but all is apparently well. The star first baseman might only miss a game or two.

I guess Johan C would fill in at 1B now that he's back for a couple games against the Mets til Freddie came back if that day to day article is right. That's what the announcers said Camargo did last season when Freddie got hurt from the same thing but much worse. I had to take their word for it because I couldn't make myself remember those dark days of 2017 in the time between Freeman and Big City.

I’d guess Flaherty at 1B and Camargo at 3B.

He's a fricking boss but there is absolutely no way I'd let him play tonight

Agreed. I'd sit him the whole weekend series even if this is the Mets. Important series but unless we go 0-4 his health is still more important. Hell, even if we do go 0-4, I'd rather have him for the other 3923498 games remaining.

Awesome! Too bad Camargo has to come off the bench again cause Flaherty is staring at 3rd.

quote:

Freddie Freeman (wrist) is starting at first base and hitting third Thursday night against the Mets. Freeman took a pitch off his left wrist on Wednesday -- the same wrist he fractured last season -- but tests came back negative for any fractures and he has talked his way into the lineup for Thursday's series opener versus the Mets. What a gamer.

The way Flaherty is playing, you just ride the wave and let him roll until he comes to earth.

Apparently Sanchez is only missing a couple of weeks, too. Maybe we get Acuna this weekend when they send Wisler/Sims down?
