that's weird but we definitely can upgrade at this position. How active was he in recruiting I really don't remember seeing his name popping up that much.
He wasn't active. Or at least he wasn't competitive in his territory. I don't know how hard he was actually trying.

On most of the recruits that I noticed he was listed as a recruiter for he was the secondary recruiter.
I won't miss the guy, he did an ok job on the DL but not anything spectacular.
Special teams.

Sounds like we have lots of room to improve then. I want someone who can coach up a pass rush and land big time recruits

...is my guess.
no reason to think that. if bielema wanted him gone, he probably would have been gone soon after the season ended. the Eagles just got a new head coach three days ago, which explains the timing.
too bad this didn't happen earlier, maybe we could have snatched kuligowski before miami got him.

What a cocksucker.
Hire a ST coach and have bert coach dline.

I thought we had already established that a lot of the special teams woes were due to Pittman and not Segrest. Pittman was in charge of the blocking for the field goal unit, which was the main issue. We were actually one of the best in the nation at punting.

Yea. Segrest was only responsible for kickers and punters I think. Not the blocking or the entire special teams unit.

Thus the intellect prevails. Killing the narrative of the thread.
He did fine, not great but fine. The Eagles evidently wanted him, he must have been worthy. An opportunity for CBB to continue to improve with the right hire...

We did, just venting my frustration at ST in general. In which Segrest did have a hand in. I think a lot of us blamed Pittman because he left (but he rightfully owned a lot of the blame). Pittman doesn't explain why an AA kicker kicks the ball so damn low.

Segrest - kickers
Pittman - blocking on kicks
Singleton - coverage teams

Still no official release from Eagles on this though.

They probably have been watching their twitter account burn and got cold feet.

apparently this all goes back to:
we all know how reliable sports talk radio hosts are with breaking news.

According to a Thursday report by Philadelphia sports talk radio host John Barchard, Segrest is expected to leave the Razorbacks to coach the defensive line for new Eagles coach Doug Pederson.

who's to say bert didn't encourage him to look into other jobs. which he had been doing with no luck as he was probably hoping for an NFL job. nobody would take him until the eagles bit the bullet.

Funny story on my facebook feed just popped up about Andy Reid regretting poor clock management during the 72oz steak challenge.

watch this all end up being rumors

As of now, that's all it is. A radio personality put this out and that's it.

Well if you think about it,
the shock of possibly losing one of the best d-line coaches in the country did cause some of us here to post some reactionary sour grape comments, and who can blame them.
Of course we would all be overjoyed if this turns out to just be a wild rumor.
Bullet dodged.

And with all the rumors, Rory was in the home of Cater tonight with Bert.
I think this looks like a case of a radio personality having bad info and putting it out too soon.
I am sure Bert would have left Rory in NWA if he thought he was leaving the staff.
