What's the article say? I'm not turning off my ad blocker to be assaulted by a bunch of pop up shite.

Little Rock Parkview Coach Scotty Thurman had enough of Tuesday's 5A-Central Conference opener against Sylvan Hills in Sherwood.
The former University of Arkansas basketball star, in his first season as Parkview's head coach, received a technical foul with 2:25 left to play, then had his team leave the bench. The officiating crew ended the contest with Sylvan Hills winning 65-51 at the Bears' Den.
quote:
Parkview senior forward Ryan Gordon fouled Sylvan Hills senior guard DeShaun Fowlkes with 2:25 left. Thurman threw the basketball from Parkview's bench in the direction of the officials on the other end as they were getting set up to have Fowlkes shoot two free throws.
Thurman received a technical foul
quote:
"My kids get a disservice each and every night," said Thurman, who took over for Al Flanigan in July. "Everybody's all braggadocious about a former Razorback being the coach at Parkview. I get shafted every night.
"My kids play hard. They play the right way. We get shafted. Every night. It doesn't matter who the officiating crew is. It's never equal. It shouldn't be that way.
"I don't mind us getting bad calls here and there. But when I throw the ball back to the ref and it didn't make it to him, so I get a technical foul and you want to throw me out of the game for something, we don't stand for that."
Parkview was called for 25 fouls to Sylvan Hills' 21.
Thurman said there's a personal vendetta against him and Parkview.

nahh! His "victim" persona will not get him his desired outcome...

I love Scotty, but pulling the team is extreme. I don't know shite about Parkview or the big deal of him being coach.
I know Nolan had a chip on his shoulder and it paid off for him in the long run.

Poor form there from Scotty. Don't know what else to say about it.
If he wasn't one of my favorite hog players of all time, if he was just some random high school coach, I'd probably say he sounds like a bitch.
Take the refs out of the game. Be better.

yeah, and why would I pay for some crap story like this when it will be all over the free boards soon....

I gotta say though, I laughed really hard reading this.
My favorite parts were where he was basically saying, "so I'm gonna throw the ball back to him and because it doesn't make it to him he's gonna give me a technical?" (I'm envisioning him throwing the ball into the stands)
And then also towards the end when they give the total fouls count and it's 25-21.

"I know there are certain people in the [Little Rock School] District that aren't happy that I'm Parkview's head coach. So what?" Thurman said. "There's certain people in the district that aren't happy that my kids are playing hard for me. So what? Don't cheat the kids, man. That's all I ask."
I have no idea what this means. Did a lot of people in Arkansas hate Thurman before this?
Makes no sense

Thurman needs to suck it up and petition the AAA for better standards rather than making it all about his team.

Thurman was one of my favs, but he's just being a crybaby here. 25-21 foul margin? And losing by double digits at the time. That's not a foul problem, Scotty.

quote:I think he’s suggesting that the coaches and officials in Parkview’s conference feel threatened by the fact that a state basketball legend is the coach at Parkview. Like everyone is trying to check him because of his stature.

Scotty made a huge mistake not staying around with whatever Muss offered him. Even if it wasn't an on the court position, he should've hung around and learned from Muss for a few years...now he's making a fool of himself on the high school level
