Ryan Mallett is going to be so pissed when he wakes up and finds out he's been released by the Texans.
Mallett was released by the team Tuesday, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, according to a source informed of the Texans plans. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle first reported the news.
That wraps up a tumultuous few days in Houston that included Mallett missing his team's charter flight for the game. Mallett subsequently blamed some Houston traffic -- which the Chronicle says was non-existent -- for his absence. Mallett also was late for a practice during training camp when he said his alarm clock broke.
The Mallett era will not be looked back upon fondly. The Texans acquired the former New England Patriots for practically nothing in a trade last season. He started two games for the team last season before tearing his pectoral muscle. Mallett was beat out by Brian Hoyer for the starting job this season, but took over for Hoyer late in the team's ugly Week 1 loss to Kansas City.
Mallett improbably held on to the starting job for four games, and was one of the worst starters in the league. His passes only seemed to have one speed. Missing the team flight Saturday was the last straw for his stay with the team.

it seems to me that bill of brien is doing everything he can to make ryan look bad. now I'm not letting ryan off the hook for giving him the Ammo but BOB is being a dumbass for handling it this way and getting nothing for ryan. Also it seems the front office of the texans and BOB do not see eye to eye. if I had to guess ryan will find another team BOB is gonna get cut and have to find a coordinator spot somewhere.

i remember passionately defending him when they were blasting him before the draft for having 'character issues' while at the same time saying blaine gabbart was going to be the next freaking tom brady.
well he's done nothing heinous or even gotten in any trouble (that i know of) but if i'd known he was going to be an utter idiot i wouldn't have bothered defending him in the first place.

And that probably ended his professional football career... what little of a career he had, at least.

another petrino QB bust
Why bash Petrino? He did his job and got Ryan to the NFL at that point it's up to Ryan.

I actually agree. Petrino was not a bad coach, he had us on the right path- he just messed up.

With the shorter field every pass will be rocketed out of the end zone
