Give or take 10-14 days to finalize a contract?

Has to be open 10 days.

Have to request permission to speak if current coach.

Likely no contract talks until after the season is over for any coach, can agree in principle but there's a lot more to contracts than just that.

Even after the announcement, the lawyers take over going over the contract on both sides before everything is finalized, many do not realize this, it is rare for the Altman/Donovan situation but it is possible with just about every hire.

247 just put out a story saying that Patterson and Gundy have both turned us down and that Malzahn is very much in the mix. They said their sources still feel good about Petersen and Franklin but that the Malzahn buzz is picking up.

Now keep in mind that Gus' agent is Jimmy Sexton so he could be using our opening to leverage more money out of wither ASU or perhaps Auburn.

I know. I'm not to worried about the Malzahn thing because they are getting their info from an out of state source most likely at Auburn. Just wanted to pass any new info along.

Sonny Dykes is the new leader in the clubhouse.

That's my guess.

Actually, Malzahn's handlers are probably floating this "rumor" so Auburn will make a run at him "before Arkansas does."

My Greg Roman steam has fizzled out so I am pushing a new candidate on the twitterz and message boards.

Honestly though I might be trending towards the Mike MacIntyre darkhorse bandwagon after watching them play this weekend. Might be time to switch it up unexpectedly and throw a curve out there.

The University would have to hire someone to start Long's car for him if he made that hire...

if long hires Dykes, coming off back to back loses to Utah state and San Jose State.. allowing a combined 100 points in both.. i, seriously.. would fear for Jeff Long's life. and i'm not exaggerating.

Now Gary Andersen would be a very solid hire but I highly doubt you are going to be able to hire a Mormon in the south even if he isn't practicing.

I imagine he is just biding his time until Mendenhall gets fired at BYU. Which seems to be getting closer and closer according to my guy out west whose buddy coaches at BYU.

Informed sources tell us that Boise State coach Chris Petersen remains a candidate at both Cal and Arkansas. He would also likely be among the top contenders at Oregon should Chip Kelly bolt for the NFL.

Sources indicate that Florida OC Brent Pease and Texas OC Bryan Harsin would likely be the top contenders to replace Petersen at Boise.

Cal doesn't really fit the lifestyle Peterson prefers, I don't consider them an option for CCP at all.

Didn't he grow up just down the road from Cal?

No clue, just know what they say about him liking the smaller towns and less limelight.

Seems Cal would be the opposite, and Ark would be about right.

He's gone to Oregon though IF Kelly leaves.

And there is your leftfield candidate.
