Panhandlers in Walmart parking lots

Just had my fifth run in with a panhandler in the lot of the Walmart on Joyce by the mall. Their story is the same every time. Out of gas, out of money, no credit cards, no one to call, can you spare a few bucks. They are always claiming to be from Tontitown or Springdale. The story is the same enough that folks should watch out. One even said she wouldn't get paid until the thirty first of June. Look at a calendar if that doesn't seem amiss. ;) She had the shakes and was doing that bit junkies do when they keep hugging and rubbing themselves like something is crawling on them. I've also had the "hungry baby" routine pulled with a doll wrapped in a blanket.

Just be on the lookout, folks. If you absolutely MUST offer help, to NOT give them cash. You can get most places mentioned in their sob stories with a couple of gallons of gas. Tell them you'll help push their car to the pump and put in a couple gallons yourself. Even if they're junkies, a couple of gallons of gas have practical use. (Well.. maybe to drive to their dealer. Still, you didn't put drug/booze money directly in their hands.)
Interestingly enough, these always happen on a Saturday night close to 12 when alcohol sales will end for 24 hours. Hmmmmm....
